Hayley Matthews Reaches Career-High ODI Ratings After Dominant Zimbabwe Series

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has reached new career-high ratings in two ODI ranking categories after a dominant performance against Zimbabwe, while several players from both teams have made significant gains in the latest ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Rankings. The rankings update comes during Zimbabwe’s historic first-ever bilateral series against the West Indies, with the visitors winning the ODI series 2-1 and taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

ODI Rankings Update

Hayley Matthews was the standout performer in the three-match ICC Women’s Championship ODI series, scoring 326 runs to finish as the leading run-scorer. Her commanding performances included a career-best 182 in the opening match in Harare, where she dismantled the Zimbabwe attack with an authoritative display of stroke-making. Her knock included 26 boundaries and a couple of maximums. She was awarded Player of the Match.

The West Indies skipper’s form has lifted her to a new career-high rating of 731 points in the ODI batting rankings. Matthews now occupies fourth place, behind India’s Smriti Mandhana on 790 points, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt on 782 and Australia opener Beth Mooney on 744. Matthews has also strengthened her position among ODI all-rounders, reaching a career-best 467 rating points. She is ranked second in the category and has reduced the gap to Australia’s Ash Gardner, who remains No. 1 with 497 points. Matthews is now just 30 points behind the Australian all-rounder.

Several other West Indies players also benefited from the series victory. Shemaine Campbelle climbed 15 places to 74th in the ODI batting rankings, while Afy Fletcher moved up two spots to 17th among ODI bowlers. Aaliyah Alleyne gained eight places to reach 49th, and Ashmini Munisar rose 11 spots to 70th in the same category.

Zimbabwe’s players also produced notable individual gains despite the series defeat. Captain Josephine Nkomo scored 114 runs in three innings and advanced 12 places to 49th in the ODI batting rankings. Beloved Biza climbed three spots to 49th among ODI all-rounders with 85 points, while Jannillea Glasgow of the West Indies surged 16 places to share 82nd position with Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong and South Africa’s Dane van Niekerk. Aaliyah Alleyne also moved three places to a career-best-equal 27th in the ODI all-rounder rankings, sharing the position with Ireland’s Laura Delany on 127 points.

T20I Rankings Update

The rankings movement has continued into the T20I leg of the tour, with the West Indies leading Zimbabwe 2-0 ahead of the final match. The third T20I will be played at Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on 7 October 2026, starting at 3:30 PM IST. Karishma Ramharack has climbed four places to 34th in the T20I bowling rankings, while Chinelle Henry has made progress in both disciplines. Henry moved up one place to 24th among T20I all-rounders and seven spots to 76th in the bowling rankings with 421 points.

West Indies batter Eboni Brathwaite made one of the most dramatic advances in the latest update, rising 357 places to 96th in the T20I batting rankings. Stafanie Taylor also climbed 19 spots to share 68th place among T20I all-rounders with Australia’s Megan Schutt.

Karishma Ramharack gained a further six places to equal 60th in the T20I all-rounder rankings with 87 points, alongside India’s Shree Charani, Isabel Toua, the UAE’s Heena Hotchandani and Scotland’s Priyanaz Chatterji. Jahzara Claxton rose 37 places to share 94th position with Australia’s Darcie Brown and Scotland’s Kirstie Gordon.

Zimbabwe’s players also registered progress. Beloved Biza climbed 20 spots to equal 55th in the T20I all-rounder rankings with Immaculate Nakisuuyi and Scotland’s Darcey Carter on 89 points. Nyasha Gwanzura moved three places to 84th with 396 points in the bowling rankings.

With one T20I still to play, Matthews’ ODI surge has already become the defining storyline of the tour. The West Indies captain’s consistency with the bat and all-round influence have strengthened her standing among the world’s leading players, while the series has provided valuable ranking momentum for emerging talents from both teams.
