At just 22, Thailand’s left-arm spinner Thipatcha Putthawong has reached a landmark that reflects both her remarkable consistency and growing influence on the international stage. She completed 200 international wickets during Thailand’s second game of their T20 Asia Cup campaign against India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 30 August 2026.
Thipatcha Putthawong entered the contest one wicket short of the milestone and achieved it by dismissing India’s skipper for 5 off 9 balls. She is the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the Women’s T20I format so far. Putthawong finished with figures of 4-0-37-1 in the first innings as India posted 159/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Although Thailand were eventually bundled out for 65, falling 94 runs short, the match still became a memorable occasion for their premier strike bowler. The dismissal of Harmanpreet, one of the most recognised figures in women’s cricket, provided the defining moment in Putthawong’s landmark performance.
Her 200 international wickets comprise 170 in T20Is and 30 in ODIs, underlining her impact across formats. Putthawong made her T20I debut on 12 January 2019 against Myanmar in Bangkok. Since then, she has taken 170 wickets at an outstanding average of 9.23 and an economy rate of 4.10 in 106 innings across 109 matches. Her T20I record includes six four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls.
The most breathtaking display of her T20I career came recently, on 3 June 2026, against Mongolia in Kuala Lumpur. Putthawong produced sensational figures of 4-3-3-5, dismantling the opposition batting line-up and helping Thailand secure a 10-wicket victory. Her spell earned her the Player of the Match award and further established her reputation as one of the most effective spinners in associate women’s cricket.
Her ODI journey began on 20 November 2022 against the Netherlands at Chiangmai. In 17 matches, Putthawong has claimed 30 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 16.93 and an economy rate of 3.61. She has also recorded a five-wicket haul in the format, confirming that her skills extend beyond the shortest version of the game. That defining ODI performance arrived on 19 April 2023 against Zimbabwe in Bangkok. Putthawong returned remarkable figures of 6.1-2-6-6 in the second innings, guiding Thailand to a commanding 78-run victory. The spell remains her best performance with the ball in the format.
The milestone came after Thailand began their campaign with a thrilling six-run victory over Hong Kong on 28 August. Two days later, against one of the strongest teams in the competition, Putthawong added another significant chapter to her rapidly developing career.
