Austria, led by skipper Priya Sabu, was up against Turkey, led by skipper Kubra Canavarci, in the Women’s Continental Cup opener at Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground, Ilfov County, on 26th August 2026. The game was eventually reduced to 10 overs per side.
The Turkey skipper, Kubra Canavarci, won the toss and elected to field first. The Turkey bowlers got their side off to a dream start, reducing them to 10/3 in the 3rd over of the innings. Sheetal Bhardwaj joined opening batter Komati Reddy at the crease, and the duo led some sort of a recovery with a much-needed 20-run stand for the 4th wicket. Skipper Kubra Canavarci broke the stand by sending the opening batter Komati Reddy (8 off 19 balls) back to the pavilion in the 7th over of the innings to provide the crucial 4th breakthrough for her side.
The breakthrough triggered a horrible collapse as Austria were eventually bundled out for 35 in the 9th over of the innings, losing their last 6 wickets for just 5 runs. The Turkish bowlers lacked discipline with their lines and lengths, which resulted in them conceding as many as 19 extras in the innings. None of the Austrian batters entered the double digits.

The Austrian bowlers showed some determination and fought back with a couple of early wickets, reducing Turkey to 13/2 in the 3rd over of the run chase, including the wicket of their skipper Kubra Canavarci for a four-ball duck. Melike Bayram (11* off 8 balls) joined Zehra Ender (13* off 12 balls) at the crease, and the duo guided them over the line with an unbeaten 27-run stand for the 3rd wicket. Turkey sealed the game with 8 wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.
The innings had 7 extras. Mallika Pathirannehelage (2-0-7-2) was the only wicket-taker with the ball for Austria.
