Guernsey, led by skipper Krista De La Mare, won the toss and opted to field first. Guernsey got off to a positive start as they reduced Austria to 19/2 in the 3rd over of the innings. Sheetal Bhardwaj joined Komati Reddy at the crease, and the duo led the recovery with a much-needed 56-run stand for the 3rd wicket, which not only took them closer to the 100-run mark. An unfortunate run-out ended Sheetal Bhardwaj (12 off 17 balls) at the crease to provide the much-needed 3rd breakthrough for Guernsey in the 10th over of the innings.

The bowlers pulled things back brilliantly for Guernsey, as Austria were restricted to 104/8 in their quota of 20 overs, managing just 29 runs and losing 5 wickets in the last 10 overs. Komati Reddy (30 off 40 balls) top-scored with the bat for Austria. The innings extras (45 runs) contributed towards a significant chunk of the total.

Claire Elmore (3-0-12-2), Annie Le Ray (4-1-16-1), Katie Robert (3-0-15-1) and Elise Millington (4-0-22-1) were the top performers with the ball for Guernsey.

Chasing a target of 105, the Austrian bowlers were immaculate with their lines and lengths. As a result, Guernsey batters were left clueless and were unable to come to terms with the conditions on offer. Krista De La Mare-led side were eventually bundled out for just 19 in the 7th over of the run chase, falling 85 runs short of the target.

None of the Guernsey batters managed to enter the double digits. The discipline was admirable from the Austrian bowlers, as the innings had just 3 extras. Komati Reddy (1.5-0-2-4), Mallika Pathirannehelage (2-0-5-3), and skipper Priya Sabu (1-0-2-2) were sensational with the ball for Austria. Komati Reddy was awarded the Player of the Match for her decisive all-round impact, scoring a vital (30 off 40 balls) with the bat, and returned with match figures (1.5-0-2-4) with the ball for her side.
