Serbia Women Host Bulgaria and Croatia in T20I Tri-Series in September 2026

Serbia will host Bulgaria and Croatia in a decisive women’s T20I tri-series at the Lisicji Jarak Cricket Ground in Belgrade from 4th to 6th September 2026, with ICC T20I Team Ranking points at stake. The tournament will feature a double round-robin group stage, and the team finishing at the top of the points table will be crowned champion.

The series allows Serbia to build on their recent success against Bulgaria. When the two teams met in a four-match bilateral T20I series in Bulgaria in June 2026, Serbia produced a commanding performance to secure a 3-1 victory. That result established Serbia as the side to beat, but the compact schedule in Belgrade will test their consistency across three consecutive days.

Bulgaria, meanwhile, will be determined to respond strongly on Serbian soil. Having secured one victory in the June series, they have already shown that they can challenge Serbia, and the tri-series format provides them with two fresh opportunities to improve their record. Their ability to recover quickly between matches could prove crucial in a tournament where every result carries significance for both the points table and the ICC rankings.

Croatia will add a new dimension to the competition. Their women’s team previously played a two-match bilateral series in Malta in May 2025, but lost both games. The Belgrade tournament will therefore mark an important new chapter for Croatia, who will face Serbia and Bulgaria in T20Is for the first time. Their opening matches against both opponents during the first leg of the double round-robin group stage will offer a valuable measure of their progress at the international level.

The schedule promises a demanding contest, with two matches on each day.

With limited recovery time and ICC T20I Team Ranking points available, tactical planning will be as important as individual performance. Serbia enter as the form team after their series victory in Bulgaria, but the crowded fixture list could create openings for both visiting sides. Bulgaria’s familiarity with Serbia and Croatia’s fresh challenge may produce a closely fought race at the top of the table.

For the Serbia Cricket Federation, hosting the tri-series represents an important step in strengthening women’s international cricket in the country. For the participating teams, the three-day event offers competitive exposure, ranking incentives and an opportunity to establish momentum on the international stage. By the evening of 6th September, the team that handles the pressure, schedule and decisive moments best will lift the tri-series trophy.
