Welsh Fire, led by stand-in skipper Georgia Wareham, signed off their campaign on a high with a 15-run win at Cardiff against the London Spirit, led by skipper Charlie Dean.
The Birmingham Phoenix made a couple of changes; Eva Gray replaced Tammy Beaumont, and Phoebe Brett replaced Linsey Smith in the starting 11 for the home side. Danielle Gregory replaced Alexa Stonehouse in the starting 11 for the visitors.
Birmingham Phoenix, led by skipper Ellyse Perry, won the toss and opted to bowl first. The MI London top-order yet again struggled to give them a commanding start to their innings as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, they were reduced to 47/4 in the 8th set of the innings to give the home side the upper hand.
Chinelle Henry joined skipper Hollie Armitage at the crease, and the duo led the recovery with a much-needed 56-run stand for the 5th wicket, which also took them past the 100-run mark. Skipper Hollie Armitage (31 off 31 balls), Alice Monaghan (12 off 12 balls), and Hayley Matthews (21 off 14 balls) were the top performers with the ball for MI London. Eva Gray (20-5-29-2), Phebe Brett (20-10-16-1), Alana King (20-6-25-1), Fatima Sana (10-6-12-1), and Lauren Filer (20-10-28-1) were the top performers with the ball for Birmingham Phoenix.
Chasing a decent target of 121, the Birmingham Phoenix lost both their openers, wicket-keeper batter Jemima Spence and Davina Perrin, inside the powerplay. Skipper Ellyse Perry stayed unbeaten on yet another impressive half-century (62* off 39 balls to guide her side over the line with 5 wickets in hand and 6 balls to spare.
