After Lancashire Women elected to field first, Yorkshire Women were immediately put under pressure despite an explosive start from Erin Thomas. The opening breakthrough came with the score on 16 when Thomas, who struck a rapid 10 from just 7 deliveries with two boundaries, was dismissed by Kate Cross. Lancashire tightened their grip further when Ami Campbell, who had looked dangerous throughout her stay, departed at 79/2 in the seventh over.

Campbell played an aggressive innings of 47 from only 21 balls, smashing four fours and four sixes at a strike rate exceeding 223. Her attacking approach ensured Yorkshire maintained positive momentum despite the early setbacks. Jess Jonassen attempted to rebuild alongside Campbell and later Lauren Winfield-Hill, contributing 18 from 12 balls with three boundaries before becoming Lancashire’s third wicket at 81/3.

The innings was steadied through a useful partnership between Lauren Winfield-Hill and Sterre Kalis. Winfield-Hill compiled 9 runs from 8 balls while Kalis added 22 from 21 deliveries, helping Yorkshire recover from the early collapse. Their stand guided the hosts beyond the halfway stage and offered a platform for acceleration. However, Lancashire’s bowlers continued to strike at key intervals.

Winfield-Hill was removed at 91/4 before Sarah Glenn joined Kalis to push the score forward. Glenn contributed a brisk 13 from 16 balls, while Kalis continued to rotate the strike effectively. The pair added valuable runs before Glenn fell at 124/5 in the 14th over. Olivia Thomas then struggled to gain momentum and was trapped leg-before by Vinai Weerappuli for 3, leaving Yorkshire at 124/6. When Kalis eventually departed for 22, Yorkshire had slipped to 130/7 and risked falling short of a competitive total.

The late innings recovery came through Beth Langston and Claudie Cooper, whose unbeaten partnership proved vital. Langston anchored the closing overs with a measured 17 not out from 20 deliveries, while Cooper supplied useful support with an unbeaten 11 from 9 balls. Their stand ensured Yorkshire reached 160/7 from their allotted 20 overs, adding crucial lower-order stability after the middle-order wobble. The extras column contributed another 10 runs, helping the innings finish on a respectable total.

Lancashire’s bowling effort was built around disciplined spells and timely wickets. Vinai Weerappuli was the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets for just 13 runs from four overs while maintaining an economy rate of 3.25. Kate Cross provided excellent support, finishing with 1 for 31 and striking early to remove Thomas. Emma Lamb also claimed a wicket and conceded only 27 runs from her four-over spell. Tara Norris bowled economically, returning figures of 1 for 19 from two overs, while Sophie Morris and Fi Morris controlled the scoring through the middle phase despite taking one wicket between them. The collective bowling display prevented Yorkshire from fully capitalising on their promising starts.

Chasing 161, Lancashire Women began positively but suffered an early setback when Meg Lanning was dismissed with the score on 14. Before her departure, Lanning had entertained with a sparkling 34 from only 15 balls, striking five fours and two sixes at a remarkable strike rate of 226.66. Her aggressive intent immediately shifted pressure onto Yorkshire’s bowlers. Eve Jones, meanwhile, played the anchor role and ensured the chase remained on track. Following the first wicket, Jones and Emma Lamb added an important partnership worth 68 runs for the second wicket, effectively taking control of the contest. Lamb contributed a fluent 22 from 17 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and maintaining momentum before she was dismissed at 114/2 in the twelfth over.

Jones continued her excellent innings and found another useful ally in Tilly Kesteven. The pair pushed Lancashire closer to the target through a partnership that frustrated Yorkshire’s attack. Kesteven scored 7 from 10 balls before becoming the third wicket at 138. By then, however, the visitors had firmly established command of the chase. Jones eventually departed for a match-defining 57 from 38 deliveries, an innings featuring seven fours and two sixes, after carrying Lancashire through the most important phase of the pursuit. Her knock came at a strike rate of 150 and laid the foundation for victory.

With only a handful of runs required, captain Eleanor Threlkeld and Seren Smale calmly completed the task. Threlkeld remained unbeaten on 28 from 18 balls, striking five boundaries at a strike rate above 155, while Smale finished unbeaten on 9 from 5 deliveries. Their unbroken partnership guided Lancashire to 163/4 in 17.1 overs, sealing a comfortable six-wicket victory with 17 balls remaining.

For Yorkshire Women, Jess Jonassen was the most successful bowler, taking 1 for 14 from three overs and maintaining control during the powerplay. Hannah Rainey claimed 1 for 32, while Claudie Cooper and Jessica Woolston each picked up a wicket. However, Yorkshire struggled to contain Lancashire’s powerful top order, with several bowlers conceding runs at over eight an over. Olivia Thomas, Sarah Gelnn and Beth Langston were all unable to make breakthroughs despite their efforts, allowing Lancashire’s batters to dictate the tempo throughout the chase.
