Maia Bouchier, Georgia Adams Lead as Hampshire Women Cruise Past Yorkshire with Dominant 42-Run Win

Hampshire Women produced a commanding all-round performance to register a convincing 42-run victory over Yorkshire Women in the Women’s T20 Blast 2026 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. After electing to bat first, Hampshire built their innings around several impactful contributions from the top and middle order before their bowlers combined brilliantly to restrict Yorkshire well short of the target. The victory was driven by aggressive batting, timely partnerships, and a disciplined bowling display that never allowed Yorkshire to gather sustained momentum during the chase.

Hampshire’s innings began positively as Maia Bouchier looked in sublime touch from the outset. Although skipper Georgia Adams struggled to dominate early, Bouchier ensured the scoreboard kept ticking with fluent strokeplay. The opening duo added 26 runs for the first wicket before Adams departed for 30 off 20 balls, caught by Beth Langston off the bowling of Olivia Thomas, after striking five boundaries at an impressive strike rate of 150.00. Bouchier continued to attack confidently and shared another useful 22-run partnership with Abi Norgrove, helping Hampshire maintain their momentum through the powerplay.

The innings briefly slowed when Bouchier’s entertaining knock came to an end for 44 from just 28 deliveries, featuring nine fours, as Beth Langston removed her with Thomas completing the catch. Despite losing their most aggressive batter, Hampshire continued to build steadily. Norgrove anchored the innings with a composed 38 off 33 balls, while Francesca Sweet chipped in with 13 from 12 deliveries. Their 23-run stand steadied the innings before Sweet was dismissed by Jess Jonassen, with Lauren Winfield-Hill taking the catch behind the stumps.

Yorkshire continued to strike at regular intervals as Jonassen claimed another crucial wicket, dismissing Norgrove in the 19th over to halt Hampshire’s late acceleration. However, Rhianna Southby played a valuable finishing cameo, scoring 17 off 11 balls with two boundaries, while Nancy Harman remained unbeaten on 27 from 14 deliveries, smashing four fours at a strike rate nearing 193. Harman and Southby stitched together an aggressive 35-run partnership that pushed Hampshire beyond 140 before Southby was dismissed by Claudie Cooper. Naomi Dattani added an unbeaten 3 off 2 balls, while two extras helped Hampshire finish strongly on 174/5 in their 20 overs, setting Yorkshire a challenging target of 175.

Yorkshire’s bowling effort saw wickets shared among multiple bowlers despite conceding runs during the death overs. Olivia Thomas was the pick of the attack with 2 for 28 from her four overs, dismissing both Adams and Bouchier. Jess Jonassen also impressed, returning 2 for 30, accounting for Sweet and Norgrove while applying pressure through the middle overs. Claudie Cooper claimed 1 for 42, while Ines Blackwell (0/35) also was effective. Although Beth Langston went wicketless, she bowled with energy despite conceding 38 runs, as Yorkshire found it difficult to contain Hampshire’s late assault.

Needing 175 for victory, Yorkshire’s chase never truly settled as Hampshire struck early with the ball. Ami Campbell attacked from the outset with a quick 15 off 10 balls, but the opening stand lasted only 20 runs before Bex Tyson made the breakthrough, trapping Campbell via a catch from Harman. Just six deliveries later, Erin Thomas managed only 3, falling to Tyson again as Hampshire tightened their grip with Yorkshire slipping to 20/2.

Yorkshire’s troubles deepened when Amelia Oliver was dismissed without scoring after Naomi Dattani joined the wicket-taking act. Captain Lauren Winfield-Hill then attempted to rebuild alongside experienced all-rounder Jess Jonassen, and the pair added 25 runs for the fourth wicket. Winfield-Hill played positively for her 39 off 31 balls, striking six boundaries, while Jonassen contributed 13 from 10 deliveries before Amanda-Jade Wellington dismissed her. Soon after, Winfield-Hill’s resistance ended when Georgia Adams claimed her wicket, leaving Yorkshire reeling at 88/5.

Despite the difficult situation, Alice Clarke fought back with a determined 34 off 35 balls, forming a useful 30-run partnership with Rebecca Duckworth, who added 12 from 16 deliveries. Their stand briefly revived Yorkshire’s hopes, but Hampshire’s bowlers continued to chip away. Tyson returned to dismiss Clarke, while Poppy Tulloch removed Duckworth shortly afterwards, ending Yorkshire’s final realistic chance of mounting a comeback.

Lower down the order, Beth Langston remained unbeaten on 3, while Ines Blackwell provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 5 off just 3 balls, but the required run rate had climbed far beyond reach. Yorkshire eventually finished on 132/7 from their 20 overs, falling 42 runs short despite collecting eight extras.

Hampshire’s bowling attack operated with excellent discipline throughout the chase. Bex Tyson starred with outstanding figures of 2 for 33 from four overs, delivering the crucial early breakthroughs of Campbell and Erin Thomas. Georgia Adams bowled economically, finishing with 2 for 20 in her four overs, including the prized wicket of Winfield-Hill. Naomi Dattani supported well with 1 for 25, while Amanda-Jade Wellington claimed 1 for 23 through her accurate leg-spin. Poppy Tulloch also entered the wickets column with 1 for 19 from three overs, ensuring Hampshire never allowed Yorkshire to build any substantial partnerships.
