The United Arab Emirates Women produced a commanding all-round display to register a massive 149-run victory over Philippines Women in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup at Kuala Lumpur. After being asked to bat first, UAE Women showcased aggressive intent from the outset, led by a magnificent captain’s knock from Esha Oza, before their bowlers dismantled the Philippines batting line-up for just 51 runs in 12.1 overs. The emphatic result further highlighted UAE Women’s growing dominance in women’s cricket and strengthened their position in the tournament.

The innings began positively for UAE Women as captain Esha Oza and wicketkeeper Theertha Satish set the tone with a brisk opening partnership of 77 runs. The duo attacked the Philippines bowlers from the start, finding boundaries regularly and ensuring the run rate remained well above eight an over. Satish played an explosive hand of 27 from 16 deliveries, striking five fours at a remarkable strike rate of 168.75 before she was caught by John Andreano off the bowling of Katie Donovan in the ninth over. By then, UAE had already built a strong platform at 77/1.
Oza continued her assault and found another aggressive partner in Rinitha Rajith. The pair added 76 runs for the second wicket, pushing Philippines Women further onto the back foot. Rajith contributed a fluent 31 off 17 balls, including five boundaries, striking at 182.35. Their partnership carried UAE to 153/2 in the 15th over before Donovan struck again to remove Rajith. The momentum briefly slowed when Mehul Kulkarni was dismissed for a single-ball duck at 153/3, with Donovan claiming her third wicket and completing a productive spell.
Despite the quick wickets, UAE’s scoring rate never dipped. Oza continued to dominate the bowling attack with a captain’s innings of the highest quality. Her superb 92 off 57 deliveries, featuring 11 fours and one six, laid the foundation for a huge total. She eventually fell at 156/4 in the 16th over, denied a deserved century but having already inflicted significant damage. Samaira Dharnidharka managed just 1 run before becoming Donovan’s fourth victim at 165/5.
The finishing touches came from Heena Hotchandani and Lavanya Keny, who stitched together an unbeaten 35-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Hotchandani accelerated brilliantly with 23 not out from 13 balls, striking four boundaries, while Keny remained unbeaten on 13 from 11 deliveries. Their late flourish propelled UAE Women to an imposing 200/5 in 20 overs, maintaining a run rate of exactly 10.00.
For Philippines Women, skipper Katie Donovan was the standout bowler. She returned figures of 3/25 from 4 overs, accounting for Satish, Rajith, Kulkarni, and Dharnidharka. John Andreano and Elyza Wall picked up one wicket each, while Kyte Gullem Keen, Reyven Castillo, and Karri Gullem Keen were unable to make breakthroughs despite their efforts.
Chasing a daunting target of 201, Philippines Women needed a strong start but immediately ran into trouble against a disciplined UAE bowling attack. Opener Amelia Valdez fought hard for 18 from 19 balls, hitting three boundaries, but wickets kept tumbling around her. The first breakthrough came at 13/1 when Elyza Wall was dismissed for 4, followed by Karri Gullem Keen for 4 at 25/2.
The pressure mounted as UAE continued striking at regular intervals. Valdez became the third wicket to fall at 27/3, while captain Katie Donovan managed 10 runs before departing at 39/4. The middle order struggled to counter the accuracy of the UAE bowlers. Jomae Masaya was run out for a duck, and Zoe Isabela Wong scored only 3 runs as the score slipped to 43/7. A brief resistance came from Reyven Castillo, who struck 9 from 6 balls, but her dismissal at 51/8 effectively ended any hopes of extending the contest.
The UAE bowling unit shared the wickets impressively. Captain Esha Oza capped a Player of the Match performance with outstanding figures of 3/3 in 2.1 overs, ripping through the lower order. Simran Sheth, making her T20I debut, impressed with 1/13, while Heena Hotchandani returned 1/4 from 2 overs. Samaira Dharnidharka claimed 1/5, Suraksha Kotte delivered an economical spell of 0/11, and Vaishnave Mahesh contributed with 1/12. Their collective effort bundled Philippines Women out for 51, sealing a comprehensive victory.
