The Blaze Women continued their impressive run in the Women’s T20 Blast 2026 with a hard-fought 15-run win over Lancashire Women at Trent Bridge on Sunday. After posting 135/9 in their 20 overs, The Blaze bowled Lancashire out for 120 in 19.1 overs to pick up another important victory.

The result helped The Blaze stay at the top of the points table with 20 points from six matches, while Lancashire remained in seventh place after suffering their fourth defeat of the season.
After being put in to bat first, The Blaze got off to a steady start. Captain Marie Kelly scored 13 before falling early, but Tammy Beaumont then played the innings that gave her side a fighting total.
Beaumont looked in good touch from the start and scored 59 runs from 40 balls. She struck eight boundaries and kept the scoreboard moving during a period when wickets were falling at the other end. Her knock proved to be the difference between the two teams in a low-scoring contest.
Charli Knott chipped in with 11 runs, while Georgia Elwiss added 10. However, Lancashire kept fighting back with regular wickets and never allowed The Blaze to fully take control of the innings.
Ella Claridge scored 5, Emma Jones made 2 and Prisha Thanawala added a useful 16 runs in the middle order. Kirstie Gordon contributed 8 before becoming another wicket to fall late in the innings.
The Blaze lost wickets quickly towards the end and finished on 135/9 from their 20 overs. While the score was not a huge one, it gave their bowlers something to work with.
Grace Potts was the standout bowler for Lancashire. She delivered an excellent spell and finished with five wickets for 20 runs from her four overs. Tara Norris, Vinali Weerappuli, Fi Morris and Kate Cross also picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 136, Lancashire started brightly. Eve Jones made 14 from 10 balls, while Meg Lanning looked comfortable during her 21-run knock. The pair helped Lancashire keep pace with the required rate in the early overs.
However, the match changed quickly when The Blaze bowlers struck several times in a short period. Tilly Kesteven scored 6, Grace Johnson made just 1, while Seren Smale and Fi Morris were both dismissed without scoring.
At 56/6, Lancashire suddenly found themselves under pressure and needing a big partnership to stay in the contest. Captain Eleanor Threlkeld tried to lead the recovery with a fighting innings of 49 from 36 balls. She hit five boundaries and kept Lancashire’s hopes alive for much of the chase. Kate Cross added 7 and Tara Norris scored 11, but the required runs continued to grow.
Once Threlkeld was dismissed in the 17th over, Lancashire’s chances became much slimmer. The Blaze bowlers stayed calm and kept taking wickets at important moments before bowling Lancashire out for 120.
Charli Knott was the pick of the bowlers with an outstanding spell of 4/17. Georgia Elwiss also played a key role with 3/12, while Grace Ballinger claimed two wickets. Their efforts helped The Blaze defend a modest total and secure another valuable win.
The victory strengthened The Blaze’s position at the top of the table and continued their excellent season. Lancashire, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back quickly as they look to move up the standings in the matches ahead.
