Esha Oza, Vaishnave Mahesh Star as UAE Women Outclass Oman in 9-Wicket Win

Thailand Women may have dominated earlier in the day, but the United Arab Emirates Women vs Oman Women clash in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2026 produced another one-sided contest as UAE Women cruised to a convincing nine-wicket victory at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur. After electing to bat first, Oman Women attempted to build a competitive platform but were consistently restricted by a disciplined UAE bowling attack. The chase that followed showcased the batting depth and attacking intent of the UAE side, led by captain Esha Oza and Theertha Satish, who ensured the target was overhauled with ease and 80 balls to spare.

Oman’s innings began cautiously with Trupti Pawde and Nitya Joshi trying to negotiate the new ball. The opening partnership yielded 16 runs before the first breakthrough arrived in the 6.5th over. Pawde, who struck one boundary during her 16-ball stay, scored 8 runs before being run out by Theertha Satish. The wicket left Oman at 16/1 and put additional pressure on the middle order. Nitya Joshi and Fiza Javed then stitched together a small but important 9-run partnership for the second wicket. However, Joshi struggled to accelerate, eventually falling lbw to Esha Oza for 9 off 27 deliveries, leaving Oman at 25/2 in the 7.6th over.

Fiza Javed looked to rebuild alongside Jayadhanya Gunasekar, and the pair added 12 runs for the third wicket. Just when Oman seemed to be finding some rhythm, Fiza departed for 9 from 13 balls after being caught by Mehul Kulkarni off Vaishnave Mahesh at 37/3 in the 10.2nd over. The pressure intensified as captain Priyanka Mendonca was dismissed for a duck only three deliveries later. Vaishnave Mahesh struck again, and Oman suddenly found themselves reeling at 37/4 in the 10.5th over. The fifth-wicket partnership between Jayadhanya Gunasekar and Amanda Dacosta offered some resistance, contributing 12 valuable runs. Gunasekar top-scored for Oman with a patient 11 from 22 deliveries before becoming Vaishnave Mahesh’s third victim at 49/5 in the 14.4th over.

Amanda Dacosta added 6 runs from 12 balls before she too was run out by Theertha Satish, leaving Oman at 55/6 in the 16.1st over. Sameera Khan chipped in with 5 runs, but her stay ended at 58/7 when she was caught by Lavanya Keny off Heena Hotchandani. Sushanthika Sathiya contributed 5 runs before being run out at 62/8 in the 18.6th over, while wicketkeeper Cynthia Saldanha managed only 1 run before being trapped lbw by Esha Oza in the final over. Afida Afthab remained unbeaten on 1, while Alifiya Sayed also finished not out on 1. Oman closed their innings on 63/9 in 20 overs, aided by 8 extras, including six wides and two no-balls.

The UAE bowling unit delivered a collective effort that kept Oman under constant pressure throughout the innings. Vaishnave Mahesh was the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets for 13 runs in her four-over spell while maintaining an economy rate of 3.25. Esha Oza provided crucial breakthroughs with figures of 2 for 21 from her four overs. Heena Hotchandani chipped in with 1 wicket for just 10 runs from four overs, while Suraksha Kotte was exceptionally economical, conceding only 9 runs from her full quota of four overs without taking a wicket. Katie Thompson also played her part, delivering four tidy overs for 11 runs. The run-outs executed by Theertha Satish further underlined UAE’s sharp fielding display.

Chasing 65 for victory, UAE Women approached the target aggressively. Openers Theertha Satish and captain Esha Oza immediately put Oman under pressure with a fluent opening stand worth 55 runs. Satish played a dynamic knock of 23 from just 15 deliveries, striking one four and two sixes at a strike rate of 153.33. The partnership effectively removed any hope Oman had of defending the total. The only breakthrough came in the 5.3rd over when Satish was caught by Amanda Dacosta off Sushanthika Sathiya, ending the impressive opening stand and reducing UAE to 55/1.

Any possibility of a comeback was quickly extinguished as Esha Oza and Samaira Dharnidharka calmly completed the chase. The pair added an unbeaten 11-run partnership for the second wicket, guiding UAE to 66/1 in just 6.4 overs. Oza remained unbeaten on a commanding 31 from 19 balls, striking three fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 163.15. Samaira supported her captain perfectly with 10 not out from six deliveries, including two boundaries.

Among the Oman bowlers, Sushanthika Sathiya claimed the lone wicket, finishing with figures of 1 for 25 from two overs. Priyanka Mendonca and Amanda Dacosta conceded 25 and 9 runs respectively, while Alifiya Sayed bowled 0.4 overs for 7 runs. However, the modest target never provided enough scoreboard pressure against a confident UAE batting lineup.
