Nandni Sharma’s rise to the highest level has been built on persistence, adaptability, and years of hard work through India’s domestic system. Growing up in Chandigarh, her cricket journey began by watching her elder brother head to the ground every day. She joined an academy at eight but briefly stepped away after struggling for opportunities before returning with greater determination.
Training alongside boys during her formative years shaped her development as a fast bowler. Realising pace alone would not be enough, Nandani worked on developing variations, slower balls and greater control — skills that later became defining strengths of her bowling. A strong domestic run gradually pushed her into the spotlight. She attended India’s Under-23 Emerging Camp in Bengaluru in 2025.
Her breakthrough arrived in the Women’s Premier League with Delhi Capitals. Picked for INR 20 lakh after impressing scouts and coaches, Nandani immediately repaid that faith. After taking two wickets on debut, she produced one of WPL 2026’s standout performances against Gujarat Giants, claiming 5 for 33, including a hat-trick — becoming the first uncapped Indian player to take a WPL hat-trick and only the second Indian player to register a five-wicket haul in the competition.
Across her debut WPL season, Nandni finished with 17 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 18.58, establishing herself as one of India’s most exciting pace prospects. Much of her impact came at the death, where her ability to execute slower balls, change pace smartly and hit consistent lengths made her a genuine wicket-taking option in the final overs — one of the most valuable skills in T20 cricket. She was also part of India’s squad for the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Bangkok in February 2026, continuing her progression through the national pathway.
That breakthrough season accelerated her rise into the national setup. Nandni earned her first senior India call-up by being named in India’s squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England. With English conditions often rewarding disciplined seam bowling and bowlers who can control scoring at the death, Nandani’s variations and composure under pressure could offer India an important weapon during the tournament.
