Rosemary Mair is one of New Zealand’s important fast bowlers in women’s cricket. Born in Napier, she started her cricket journey with Central Districts and slowly made her place in the New Zealand team with good performances in domestic cricket.

Before fully focusing on cricket, Mair also played football and squash when she was young. She started playing cricket at the age of seven because of her three older brothers. In her early years, she played for Taradale Cricket Club and also played in boys’ teams until she was 13.

Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond was one of her biggest inspirations while growing up. Mair became known for her pace, swing bowling, and bowling straight at the stumps. Her inswingers and slower balls have helped her become a very useful bowler in T20 cricket.

Rosemary Mair WT20I Career

Mair made her WT20I debut for New Zealand against India in February 2019. Since then, she has become a regular member of New Zealand’s T20 team. So far, she has played 44 WT20Is and taken 31 wickets. Her best bowling figures are 4/19.

One of the biggest moments of her career came during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. In a group-stage match against India, Mair bowled really well and took 4 wickets for 19 runs, helping New Zealand win an important game. She also did very well in the final against South Africa. Mair took 3 wickets for 25 runs and played a big part as New Zealand won the Women’s T20 World Cup title for the first time.

Her ability to stay calm and take wickets in pressure matches made her one of New Zealand’s key players during the tournament.

Rosemary Mair T20 Career

Apart from international cricket, Mair has also been an important player for Central Districts Women in domestic T20 cricket. She has also played in Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League, where she got the chance to play against many top players.

Mair is known for bowling well with the new ball and also in the final overs of a T20 innings. She keeps things simple and focuses on accuracy and smart changes in pace. Even though injuries affected her career at times, she kept working hard and made strong returns to the New Zealand team.

Recent Form Ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

Mair has continued to perform well for New Zealand in 2026. During the England tour, she picked up important wickets in both ODI and T20 matches and remained one of the team’s main fast bowlers. With her experience, control, and ability to do well in big matches, Rosemary Mair will once again be an important player for New Zealand in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
