The cricket scene in Central America is about to get a whole lot more exciting. The Costa Rica Cricket Federation has confirmed it will be hosting the Chile Women’s national team for a three-match T20 International (T20I) series this week.

All three matches are scheduled to take place at the picturesque Los Reyes Polo Club in Guacima. The action kicks off on Friday, April 24, followed by the second game on Saturday, April 25, and the series finale on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
What makes this encounter particularly intriguing is that it’s a total first-time affair. Despite being growing forces of the ICC Americas region for years, these two nations have never faced each other in a T20 International (T20I) before. It’s a fresh chapter for both programs as they look to climb the regional rankings.
Costa Rica comes into this series with a point to prove. Looking at their overall T20I record since 2019, they’ve found the going a bit tough, securing just one win from 11 matches. That lone victory came against Belize back in 2019, where they posted a solid 113. More recently, they’ve been engaged in a long-standing rivalry with Mexico, though they are still hunting for their first win against them after five attempts (including one tied match that slipped away). While their batting average sits at 10.26, playing on home soil provides a massive opportunity for them to turn those competitive flashes into a winning streak.
For Chile, this tour isn’t just a series; it’s a comeback. The team hasn’t seen international action since October 2023, following a difficult bilateral series against Argentina. Historically, Chile—nicknamed Las Loicas—has shown they can be a force, particularly against Mexico, whom they defeated three times in a row during their 2018-2019 peak. Their overall record stands at four wins from 12 matches, and they boast a significantly higher team high score (147) compared to their hosts. The big question will be how much rust they have to shake off after nearly three years away from the international crease.
Series Schedule:
1st T20I: April 24, 2026
2nd T20I: April 25, 2026
3rd T20I: April 26, 2026

With both sides eager to establish dominance in this brand-new matchup, the Los Reyes Polo Club is set to host a historic weekend for women’s cricket in the Americas. The stage is set for a historic weekend in Guacima to climb the rankings and claim bragging rights in this first-ever encounter, expect a hard-fought series as Costa Rica and Chile finally go head-to-head.
