Immaculate Nakisuuyi Stars as Uganda Defend 93 to Seal Comfortable Win Over Uganda A

Uganda women, led by skipper Janet Mbabazi, were up against Uganda A, led by skipper Phiona Egaru Kulume, on 12th April 2026 at Entebbe Cricket Ground in the ongoing edition of the Easter Women’s T20 Cup 2026. The last time these two sides were up against each other, the game was abandoned on 10th April 2026 at the same venue due to rain.

Uganda skipper Janet Mbabazi won the toss and opted to bat first after the rains curtailed the contest to 14 overs per side. Irene Alumo provided a dream start for Uganda A by dismissing the Ugandan skipper, Janet Mbabazi, for a golden duck on the first ball of the run chase. Wicket-keeper Kevin Awino joined Stephanie Nampiina at the crease, and the duo led the recovery with a much-needed 50-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Stephanie Nampiina’s impressive stay (32 of 24 balls) at the crease was ended in an unfortunate run out in the 8th over of the innings.

Uganda kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Wicket-keeper batter Kevin Awino (25 off 30 balls) was dismissed unusually in the form of a hit-wicket in the 11th over of the innings, providing a 3rd breakthrough for Uganda A. The lack of substantial partnerships cost them as they just managed to post a total of 93/6 in their quota of 14 overs.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi (13 off 13 balls) and Rita Musamali (13 off 13 balls) chipped in with vital contributions with the bat for Uganda. The innings included as many as 7 extras. Tino Sarah (3-0-14-2), Irene Alumo (3-0-21-2), and Lorna Anyait (3-0-15-1) were the top performers with the ball for Uganda A.

Chasing a target of 94, Uganda A top-order failed, and as a result, they were reduced to 19/3 in the 7th over of the run chase. Skipper Phiona Egaru Kulume joined Immaculate Nandera at the crease, and the duo led some sort of a recovery with a 14-run partnership for the 4th wicket, which also eventually happened to be the highest partnership of the run chase of Uganda A. Mutonyi Irene broke the stand by sending Immaculate Nandera (7 off 14 balls) back to the pavilion in the 9th over of the run chase, providing the 4th breakthrough for Uganda.

The wickets continued to tumble, and Uganda A were eventually restricted to 54/7 in their quota of 14 overs, falling 39 runs short of the target. Skipper Phiona Egaru Kulume (18* off 19 balls) was the only batter to enter the double digits with the bat for Uganda A. Immaculate Nakisuuyi (2-0-5-2), Mutonyi Irene (3-0-9-2), Sheila Namagoba (3-0-11-1), and Malisa Ariokot (3-0-13-1) were the top performers with the ball for Uganda.

Immaculate Nakisuuyi was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round contributions, 13 (13 balls) with the bat and match figures (2-0-5-2) with the ball for her side.
