Durham Cricket have strengthened their squad ahead of the upcoming season with the signing of Tahlia Wilson, who will join the club for the first half of the One Day Cup campaign.

The 26-year-old Australian top-order batter is set to link up with the Durham squad before their opening fixture against Lancashire at Banks Homes Riverside on 11 April. She will remain with the club through mid-June, offering both quality and experience at the top of the order during a crucial phase of the competition.
Wilson arrives in England off the back of an outstanding run in domestic cricket with the New South Wales Breakers in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) 2024/25. She was the leading run-scorer of last summer’s campaign, amassing 667 runs at an impressive average of above 50, helping the Breakers secure their first title in six years. Her performances were recognised with the WNCL Player of the Year award, underlining her dominance throughout the competition.
Among her standout displays was a career-best 142 against ACT Meteors, highlighting her ability to convert strong starts into match-winning contributions. She has continued that form into the current season, adding a further 530 runs, reinforcing her reputation as one of the most consistent performers in Australian domestic cricket.
Reflecting on her move, Wilson said: “I’m very excited to be joining Durham this season.” She added: “I’ve heard lots of great things about the players and staff and enjoyed watching the brand of cricket they played last season.”
Wilson’s performances have also brought international recognition. She recently earned her maiden call-up to the Australia women’s cricket team for their white-ball tour of the Caribbean against the West Indies women’s cricket team, following consistent displays for Australia A across formats.
Approaching 200 professional appearances, Wilson brings a wealth of experience. Across the past four seasons, she has accumulated more than 2,000 List A runs and registered seven centuries, demonstrating both reliability and the capacity to deliver big innings under pressure.
In franchise cricket, Wilson has been a long-time presence in the Women’s Big Bash League, representing Sydney Thunder for seven seasons and helping them to the 2020 title. She has also featured for Sydney Sixers and Auckland Hearts, gaining valuable experience across different conditions.
Looking ahead to her stint in England, Wilson said, “I can’t wait to join up with the group soon and get going in a Durham shirt.”
Durham’s Director of Cricket, Marcus North, welcomed the signing, highlighting both her quality and character. He said “We’re delighted to secure Tahlia for our Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.” He added “She’s proven herself as one of the most consistent top-order players in Australian domestic cricket, and her hunger for runs is exactly what you want at the top of the innings.”
With her recent accolades, including WNCL Player of the Year, and her sustained run-scoring form, Wilson’s arrival signals Durham’s intent to compete strongly in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. If she adapts quickly to English conditions, she is expected to play a key role in their campaign.
