Patcharaporn Sorntha Stars as Thailand U19 Women Seal Comfortable Victory After Bowling Out Hong Kong for 68

The U-19 Women’s T20 Challenge 2026 clash between Hong Kong, China U19 Women, and Thailand U19 Women unfolded as a low-scoring yet gripping contest, with disciplined bowling and calm chasing defining the outcome. Opting to bat first, Hong Kong, China U19 Women endured a shaky start that set the tone for their innings, as Thailand’s bowlers applied early pressure with tight lines and sharp fielding.

The innings began on a difficult note as opener Poon Hoi Lam was caught early for a two-ball duck, giving Thailand the breakthrough they were seeking. Tejasvi Rajaram and Fatima Amir attempted to stabilise the innings with a cautious rebuild, but their partnership never truly flourished. Rajaram scored 10 off 31 deliveries, while Amir added 12 from 19 balls, with both batters falling to unfortunate run-outs, highlighting Thailand’s sharp work in the field. At 2 down with minimal momentum, Hong Kong were already on the back foot.

Emily Dickinson tried to inject some intent with her 6 off 12 balls, but she was removed by Patcharaporn Sorntha, who emerged as one of the standout bowlers of the match. Kashvi Thakkar followed soon after for a duck, once again falling to the same bowler. Myra Mukherjee (1 off 7) and Xanthe Ganesan (8 off 23) struggled to accelerate, as Thailand’s bowlers kept a tight grip on the scoring rate. The middle overs saw a collapse of momentum rather than wickets in clusters, which proved equally damaging.

The only notable resistance came from Storm Parker, who remained unbeaten on 16 off 19 balls, striking two boundaries and attempting to lift the innings towards the end. Sakura Panckhurst contributed a brief 2 off 2 before falling, while Poon Hoi Ching stayed not out on 1. Hong Kong eventually closed their innings at 68/8 in 20 overs, with extras contributing a significant 12 runs.

Thailand’s bowling attack was clinical and well-distributed. Patcharaporn Sorntha led the charge with impressive figures of 3/9 in her 4 overs, dismantling the middle order. Kewarin Saechao supported well with 2/15, while Pattamawadee Suriya chipped in with a wicket. Kesinee Keawjumpol maintained exceptional control, conceding just 13 runs in her 4 overs, and Koranit Suwanchonrathi bowled economically, giving away only 3 runs in her spell. Phonphimon Khongdee also maintained pressure, ensuring Hong Kong never found rhythm.

Chasing a modest target of 69, Thailand U19 Women approached the innings with composure despite an early setback. Phichamon Darajaroen was dismissed for a duck in the opening over, caught off Storm Parker, leaving Thailand at 1/0. However, the recovery was swift and decisive. Kunanya Inwin played a crucial counter-attacking knock of 17 off 13 balls, hitting three boundaries and forming a vital 38-run partnership with Thanrada Seesawan.

Thanrada Seesawan anchored the innings beautifully, remaining unbeaten on 30 off 40 balls. Her innings was a blend of patience and timely boundaries, ensuring there were no further hiccups. After Kunanya’s dismissal at 38/2 in 6.5 overs, Koranit Suwanchonrathi joined Seesawan and the duo calmly stitched together an unbeaten 33-run partnership. Koranit contributed 4 off 6 balls, playing a supporting role as Thailand steadily approached the target.

Despite Hong Kong’s bowlers trying to create pressure, the target proved too small. Storm Parker and Poon Hoi Lam picked up a wicket each, while Fatima Amir bowled economically. However, the lack of scoreboard pressure meant Thailand could dictate terms throughout the chase. They eventually reached 71/2 in just 10.2 overs, sealing an emphatic 8-wicket victory.
