Uganda to Host Easter Women’s T20 Cup vs Nepal and USA at Entebbe Cricket Oval in April

As Uganda gets ready to host a high-profile developmental series that will bring together talent from three continents, Entebbe Cricket Oval is expected to be a hive of activity in April. The Easter Women’s T20 Cup, which takes place from April 7–16, is more than just a competition; it serves as a vital link for teams hoping to advance to the top levels of the international game.

There is a distinctive blend of national aspects to the event. In addition to a Uganda A developmental team, visiting teams from Nepal and the USA will arrive in Uganda to play the local favorites, the senior national team. The pressure will be intense because these games are the last preparation for the ICC Women’s Challenge Trophy in Rwanda later that month, even though they won’t have official T20I status.

Giving local players a taste of international standards is the organizers’ aim. Cricket Uganda’s Head of High Performance and Pathways, Richard Okia, stressed the series’ strategic significance.

“These Easter Women’s T20 matches against USA and Nepal are a perfect stage to test our teams at a high level” Okia noted. “For the Victoria Pearls, it’s about sharpening our edge and building winning momentum, while Uganda A Women gain invaluable exposure to fast-track their growth and confidence on the international stage.”

Every team is guaranteed the most time on the grass thanks to the competition setup. Uganda hopes to expand its talent pool by adding the “A” team, ensuring that younger players are actively competing against World Cup-caliber opponents rather than merely observing from the sidelines.
