Royal Challengers Bangalore ignited WPL 2026 with a grand opener against Mumbai Indians, proving they meant business from ball one. Winning the toss and elected to bowl, RCB’s attack kept Mumbai Indians to a manageable 154/6 on a pitch offering early seam. The chase turned into a last ball nail biter, but Nadine de Klerk emerged as the ultimate match winner, her unbeaten 63 off 44 balls, capped by a four off the final delivery, while she’d already claimed four wickets with the ball in that match. That all round sorcery delivered a thrilling three-wicket victory, signaling RCB’s championship hunger.

Facing UP Warriorz next, RCB’s dominance was absolute and clinical. Toss in hand, they bowled first and crushed Warriorz for 143/5, with Shreyanka Patil and Nadine de Klerk picking key wickets to shatter the top order early. Chasing the total, Grace Harris unleashed 85 off 40 balls in a whirlwind of power, backed by Smriti Mandhana’s unbeaten 47 off 32. They crossed the finish line in 12.1 overs and won by nine wickets, leaving no doubt about their superiority.

Gujarat Giants tested RCB’s resolve when they won the toss and bowled but responded with batting fireworks to post 182/7. An early stumble top-order lost balance but it was steadied by Radha Yadav’s elegant 66 and Richa Ghosh’s punchy 44, before de Klerk’s blistering 26 off 12 balls gave the innings rocket fuel. Defending the total, Shreyanka Patil’s dream five wicket haul and Lauren Bell’s three wickets bowled out Giants for 150 in 18.5 overs, a polished 32-run win that showcased RCB’s depth.

Delhi Capitals showdown was RCB’s bowling masterclass, amplified by batting brilliance. Toss won, they bowled first and dismantled Delhi’s top order to 10/4 by the second over’s close, eventually all out for 166. Smriti Mandhana then built a perfect inning with a majestic 96, her timing flawless amid mounting pressure. Georgia Voll sealed the deal unbeaten on 54, steering RCB to 169/2 in 18.2 overs for an eight-wicket cruise. It was a statement of intent.

Vadodara’s venue switch couldn’t halt RCB’s rampage. In the match against Gujarat Giants, batting first, Gautami Naik anchored with a composed 73 off 55 balls, blending classy stroke play with acceleration to propel them to 178/6. The bowlers pounced Nadine de Klerk and Sayali Satghare struck at crucial junctures with economical spells, derailing Giants at 5/3 after 1.5 overs. They crumbled to 117/8 in 20 overs, giving RCB a 61 runs victory. Unbeaten in five, with 10 points, RCB tops the table and marches into playoffs as WPL’s lone invincible force.

With qualification already secured, RCB have three group-stage games left, and topping the table at the end would grant them a direct finals berth, giving them a massive edge over the field. Their habit of overpowering every side makes them a formidable competitor, one we can’t underestimate as the playoffs loom.
