Summary: Final – India B defeat India C to clinch the title of Women’s Under 23 T20 Challenger Trophy 2019

India B won over India C by 5 wickets to clinch the title of this year’s Women’s Under 23 T20 Challenger Trophy. Opener Vrushali Bhagat scored 41 runs while bowler Shrayosi Aich took 3 wickets to help India B win the final match.

The final match of the Challenger Trophy was held between India B and India C at Siechem Stadium, Puducherry. India B won the toss and choose to field first.

Sent into bat, India C could not gather momentum at the start. Opener Renuka Chaudhari was bowled by Anjali Sarvani at 2 in the second over. Kajal Jena and Indrani Roy scored 16 and 15 runs respectively but Shrayosi Aich took them both out of the game in the 10th over. Rashi Kanojiya bagged the wicket of captain Prativa Rana on 17. Aich dismissed Utkarsha Pawar on 13 on the last ball of the innings to complete her 3-wicket haul. Sheetal Rana remained not out on 29 to take India C to 96/5 after 20 overs.

India B had a steady start with the openers sharing a 54-run stand for the first wicket. N Anusha fell to P Naik on 12 while captain Ayushi Soni was dismissed by Sheetal Rana on 5. It was Vrushali Bhagat who steered the chase. She made 41 runs in 43 balls. In the 13th over, S L Meena removed Bhagat and Tejal Hasabnis in the space of 2 balls to shift the momentum. Meena also got her 3rd wicket of the match in the form of Simran Dil Bahadur on 8. But Minnu Mani remained not out on 17 to see her team through. India B chased down the target in 19 overs to clinch the title. They are the winners of this year’s Women’s Under 23 T20 Challenger Trophy.
