WPL Defending Champions Mumbai Indians Unveil Official Jersey Ahead of 2026 Season

Mumbai Indians, Champions of WPL 2025, have unveiled their official jersey for the upcoming edition of the WPL. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side has been the most successful team in the history of the tournament, winning two seasons- the inaugural edition in 2023 and in 2025.

The players themselves have boasted dominance with their performances by bagging many awards in terms of being the highest run-getters and highest wicket-takers. The management decided to stick to the same core that the team had last season by buying back Amelia Kerr, Shabnam Ismail and Sajana Sajeevan among others. Mumbai has also roped in some exciting young guns like Triveni Vasistha and Nalla Reddy.

The greatest strength that they possess is the flexibility in the squad provided by the world class all-rounders like Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr. However, ahead of this season, Lisa Keightley was named as the new Head Coach, succeeding Charlotte Edwards who is now England’s Women’s head coach.

Mumbai Indians had also strengthened their think tank with the latest addition of Kristen Beams as their spin bowling coach. The duo of Jhulan Goswami and Kristen Beams could pay dividends, considering the value and experience they could add to the bowling unit.

Jersey Design Rooted in Mumbai’s Energy and Identity

The jersey attempts to mirror the dynamic nature of Mumbai and the highly celebrated jersey colors- blue and gold, with coral represents resilience, momentum and movement. The philosophical foundation behind the design of the jersey is the “Wicket Pulse” theme, continuing their design that draws inspiration from the lifestyle of the Mumbaikars and their vibrant energy.

The jersey features a vivid blue that represents the constant motion of the city, and it resembles the roaring waves of the Arabian Sea at the coast and the local trains of the city. “It reflects the never-slowing mindset that defines both Mumbai and the Mumbai Indians,” MI said in a statement.

The Gold adds richness and royalty that symbolize the triumphant run of the Mumbai Indians franchise over the years, and the coral accent offers a touch of warmth to balance the emotion that the jersey attempts to embody. Overall, the new kit attempts to weave a sense of familial bonding between the franchise and the fans and the colour combinations used throughout the jersey stand for the #OneFamily initiative of the club.

As we move closer to the 2026 edition of the WPL, Mumbai Indians would be gearing up to give it their all to defend the title and to become the first team in the WPL to win back-to-back titles. Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper, will be at the peak of her confidence, winning the maiden Women’s World Cup Title for her national side and being the most successful captain in Women’s T20Is. An exciting season is beginning to unfold for the Mumbai Indians.
