India, led by skipper Deepika TC, were up against Nepal, led by skipper Binita Pun, in the grand finale at the P Sara Oval, Colombo, in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind from 11th to 23rd November 2025, hosted by India and partly in Sri Lanka.

India defeated Australia, led by skipper Courtney Webeck, by 9 wickets in the first semi-final at the P Sara Oval, Colombo, to book their spot in the final. Nepal defeated Pakistan, led by skipper Nimra Rafique, in the 2nd semi-final by 7 wickets to book their spot in the final.
Indian skipper Deepika TC won the toss and opted to field first in the all-important clash. India’s fielding brilliance has been a differentiator for the women in blue throughout the tournament. Nepal were reduced to 30/3 in the 8th over of the innings. Sarita Ghimire joined Bimala Rai at the crease, and the duo stitched a much-needed 65-run partnership for the 4th wicket, which took them closer to the 100-run mark.
A run-out courtesy of excellent work in the field from Sunita Srathe ended Bimala Rai (26 off 26 balls) innings back to the pavilion in the 17th over of the innings to provide the 4th breakthrough for India. Nepal eventually ended up with a total of 114/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Sarita Ghimire (35* off 38 balls) top-scored with the bat for Nepal. The number of extras accounted for a total of 25 runs. Jamuna Rani Tudu (4-0-21-1), Anu Kumari (3-0-23-1), and Sunita Srathe (3-0-17-0) were impressive with the ball for India.
Chasing a target of 115, the Indian openers Anekha Devi (2 off 3 balls) and skipper Deepika TC (6 off 7 balls) were back to the pavilion cheaply. As a result, the Indian middle order were challenged. One of the most experienced batters in Phula Saren stepped up alongside Karuna K (42 off 27 balls) under pressure with a much-needed 51-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Dillisara Dhamala cleaned up Karuna K to provide the crucial 3rd breakthrough for Nepal in the 9th over of the run chase.
India were in the driver’s seat when Basanti Hansda (13* off 12 balls) joined Phula Saren (44* off 27 balls) at the crease, and the duo held their nerve to guide India over the line with an unbeaten 33-run partnership for the 4th wicket, sealing the run chase with seven wickets in hand and 47 balls to spare.
Phula Saren was awarded the Player of the Match for her impressive innings (44* off 27 balls) under pressure, ensuring India crossed the finish line and laid their hands on the Inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup trophy as the champions of the tournament. Her knock included four boundaries.
