Top 10 wicket keepers with most dismissals

Taking forward our series of statistical analysis, today we talk about the top 10 wicket-keepers with most dismissals:

1) 247 – Sarah Taylor
Sarah Taylor, the English Wicket-keeper batswoman is the leading wicket-keeper in the most number of dismissals. She has played over 220 international matches and recently retired from the International arena.

2) 214 – Trisha Chetty
Trisha Chetty is one of a core of young South African women who have broken into the national team in 2007, taking over the gloves from Daleen Terblanche. A lower-order wicket-keeper is impressively known for her athletic keeping style.

3) 172 – Merissa Aguilleira

Merissa Aguilleira comes 3rd on the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper. The West Indian born has represented her country over 200 matches in ODIs and T20Is. On 24th April 2019, she retired from International Cricket.

4) 161 – Jane Smit
The English cricketer is 4th on this list. A veteran of over 120 matches, Jane Smit has 161 international dismissals to her name. She was also a handy batsman for the English side which regained the Ashes in 2005.

5) 160 – Rachel Priest
Regarded as a ‘technically correct’ wicket-keeper, Rachel Priest rose through the ranks at Central Districts. In addition to her wicket-keeping skills, Priest is also a hard-hitting batswoman. Since 2017 she hasn’t played an international match but has successfully regained a contract from the New Zealand Cricket Board.

 

6) 152 – Batool Fatima
The Pakistani wicketkeeper, who happens to be a medium-pacer too is 6th in this list (tie with A Healy). With having a good experience playing limited-overs cricket, she has a safe pair of hands behind the wicket.

7) 152 – Alyssa Healey
Alyssa Jean Healey, niece of one of the greatest Australian wicket-keeper and wife of current Australian left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc. Alyssa made her International debut against New Zealand in 2010. She is a T20I specialist with over 100 matches under her belt and 75 dismissals in the format.

8) 137 – Rebecca Rolls
The Kiwi wicket-keeper batswoman made her international debut against Pakistan in 1997 at Christchurch. She is New Zealand’s all-time great One day player. Since making her debut in 1997, Rolls missed only one ODI series.

9) 125 – Joddie Fields
Joddie made her debut against India in February 2006 at Adelaide. Most of her career she played limited-overs cricket, accounting 114 dismissals. She was an attacking batswoman and had a great contribution to various Aussie wins.

10) 121 – JC Price
Another Aussie player in this list. Julia made her International debut against the Kiwis at Adelaide. In a career span of almost 10 years, she played close to 100 International matches. Earlier this year, Price was also named the head coach of the USA women’s team.
