Fatima Sana spoke to the press ahead of Pakistan’s opening match against Bangladesh, sharing insights into the team’s preparation, strategy, and mindset for the upcoming tournament.

She emphasized the value of experience in the squad. Fatima highlighted the strength and number of spinners in the team as a key asset they aim to maximize in the competition.

“I learned a lot, especially calmness in the 50-over format because 50 overs demands discipline and calmness especially, there are a lot of high-pressure matches, so we want to be calm at all times,” Sana stressed the importance of discipline and composure in high-pressure World Cup matches.

Reflecting on their successful qualifier campaign held in Pakistan, Sana mentioned, “I think Pakistan conditions and Sri Lanka conditions are similar. Our campaign was great in the Qualifier, and we hope to carry on this and I know these matches will have pressure situations, but hopefully we try to be calm.” She expressed confidence in carrying forward their strong form to the main tournament.

Fatima also praised senior players like Sidra Amin for their experience and leadership. Talking about her role as a pacer in spin-friendly conditions, Fatima shared insights on adapting her bowling, saying the ability to bowl reverse swing has been important.

She appreciated the contributions of bowlers like Diana Baig and Fatima (herself) during the qualifiers, stating the importance of taking wickets in middle overs helped in qualifiers.
