A crafty allrounder with the ability to change games with both bat and ball, Fahima has etched her name in history books as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to claim a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I). More than her records, she embodies resilience, consistency, and the spirit of Bangladesh cricket.

Fahima Khatun’s International Career

Fahima’s cricketing journey took flight when she became a regular in Bangladesh’s national setup. Her big moment arrived in May 2018, during a 50-over tour match in South Africa, where she produced a jaw-dropping spell of 8 wickets for just 5 runs in 10 overs, a performance that instantly underlined her talent.

Only weeks later, she delivered another slice of history. On 10 July 2018, against the United Arab Emirates in the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier, Fahima took a magical hat-trick, becoming Bangladesh’s first-ever player to achieve the feat in WT20Is.

Fahima was also an integral part of Bangladesh’s squad that lifted the 2018 Women’s T20 Asia Cup, defeating six-time champions India in a nail-biting final. In 2025, she continued to be a trusted name in the Bangladesh squad, featuring in the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan, showcasing her longevity at the highest level.

Fahima’s career reflects her balance as an allrounder: 44 WODIs, 35 wickets, with the best bowling performance of 5/21. 37 batting innings – 349 runs, proving her ability to contribute valuable lower-order runs when the team needs stability. Her knack for breakthroughs and her fighting spirit with the bat make her one of Bangladesh’s most dependable players.
