The Royals arrive with confidence, riding high after back-to-back title wins over the last two seasons, and they once again look like the team to beat. They kicked off their campaign with a dominant 7-wicket victory against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. In contrast, the Knight Riders narrowly went down in the season opener, falling short by just 6 runs against the same opposition.

Squads:

Barbados Royals Women’s Cricket Team

Chinelle Henry, Afy Fletcher, Aaliyah Alleyne, Kycia Knight, Steffie Soogrim, Shamilia Connell, Sheneta Grimmond, Qiana Joseph, Trishan Holder, Naijanni Cumberbatch, Chamari Athapaththu, Georgia Redmayne, Courtney Webb, Shreyanka Patil

Trinbago Knight Riders Women’s Cricket Team

Shikha Pandey, Salonee Dangore, Jess Jonassen, Lizelle Lee, Deandra Dottin, Shabika Gajnabi, Shawnisha Hector, Rashada Williams, Nerissa Crafton, Jahzara Claxton, Zaida James, Jannillea Glasgow, Keila Elliot, Abigail Bryce, Samara Ramnath

Players to watch out:

Georgia Redmayne

The Australian wicketkeeper-batter showed her composure with an unbeaten 33 off 29 in the Royals’ previous game. With a wealth of experience from 125 WBBL appearances and 2664 runs, including a top score of 98*, she is a proven anchor who can steady innings when required.

Chinelle Henry

Henry has been a regular feature of the WCPL since its beginning and continues to deliver impactful all-round contributions. Though her overall record shows 4 wickets and 65 runs, her ability to influence games is unquestionable. Against the Warriors, she shone brightly with an unbeaten 37 off just 19 deliveries, earning the Player of the Match award.

Deandra Dottin

One of the most destructive hitters in the women’s game, Dottin combines raw power with years of experience. Since the WCPL’s launch in 2022, she has scored 340 runs with the highest of 59. Her strike rate of 111.47 doesn’t fully reflect her ability to dismantle bowlers, but her knack for turning games in a matter of balls makes her invaluable to the Knight Riders.

Shikha Pandey

The seasoned Indian pacer has represented her country in 62 T20Is since 2014, claiming 43 wickets with the best of 3/14. She impressed in WPL 2025 for Delhi Capitals, finishing with 11 wickets in 9 matches and the best of 2/14. In this season’s opening WCPL game, she took 1/29 and will look to tighten her spells further.

Pitch:

The pitch at Providence Stadium in Guyana usually favors bowlers who rely on variation and spin. While seamers can expect some movement early on, the surface tends to slow down as the match progresses, making stroke-play tougher and chasing totals a challenge.

Weather:

Guyana will witness warm and sticky conditions, with the mercury around 31°C. Humidity levels are forecast at 82%, while winds may reach 13 kph. A 30% chance of light showers suggests brief interruptions could occur.

Fantasy Playing XI:

Deandra Dottin, Jess Jonassen, Lizelle Lee, Shikha Pandey, Zaida James, Chinelle Henry, Shreyanka Patil, Qiana Joseph, Aaliyah Alleyne, Chamari Athapaththu, Georgia Redmayne
