The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for August, spotlighting standout T20I performers from Europe. Ireland’s Orla Prendergast, Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali, and the Netherlands’ Iris Zwilling make up a diverse shortlist, each leaving a strong mark with bat or ball during the month.

Muneeba Ali: Pakistan’s record-breaking opener
Muneeba Ali continues to etch her name in Pakistan’s cricketing history. Already the first woman from her country to score a T20I century, she added a second to her tally in Dublin, remaining unbeaten on 100 from 68 balls to guide Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory in the final match against Ireland.
Across the series, the left-handed opener amassed 132 runs at an average of 66.00, with scores of 5, 27, and the commanding century that sealed her place as Pakistan’s most prolific T20I batter.
Orla Prendergast: Ireland’s complete package
For Ireland, 23-year-old all-rounder Orla Prendergast was the heartbeat of their success against Pakistan. Named Player of the Series in her side’s 2-1 triumph against Pakistan, she tallied 144 runs, including a top score of 64*, and claimed four wickets, with best figures of 3/28.
She carried this momentum into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, adding another 100 runs across five innings (best of 49) and three more wickets. In total, her August tally stood at 244 runs in eight innings at an average of 48.80, a strike rate of 127.08, along with seven wickets—underlining her impact as one of the finest all-rounders on display.
Iris Zwilling: Dutch bowling spearhead
For the Netherlands, Iris Zwilling’s craft with the ball was pivotal. Featuring in six T20Is during the month, she picked up 10 wickets to finish as joint leading wicket-taker in the Europe Qualifier. Operating at an economy rate of just 4.65, Zwilling averaged 10.70 per wicket and delivered decisive spells against Germany (3/6) and Italy (3/14), both of which highlighted her consistency and control.
