Bio:

The Zimbabwe batter made her international debut on 5th January 2019 in a T20I against Namibia. She is currently the skipper of the Zimbabwean Women’s cricket team in the White-ball format. She has scored 972 runs at a strike rate of 110.20 and a decent average of 25.57 in 49 innings. Her tally of runs includes five half-centuries so far. Her best performance with the bat for Zimbabwe in the T20I format came on 7th January 2019 when she scored 60 runs at a strike rate of 122.44 against Namibia. She played a crucial role in helping her side clinch a comprehensive 57-run victory.

As a skipper in the T20I format, she has a sensational win percentage of around 76% so far for Zimbabwe.

She made her ODI debut on 5th October 2021 against Ireland. She has scored 336 runs at a strike of 68.85 and an average of 22.40 in 16 innings.

She achieved a remarkable milestone to announce her arrival to international cricket as she became the first Zimbabwean women and overall only the 2nd Zimbabwean Player after Andy Flower (23rd February, 1992 Vs Sri Lanka) to score a century on her One Day International Debut.

She holds a master’s degree in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town. Musonda began her cricketing journey in high school, where she switched from hockey to cricket. Despite initially playing with boys due to the absence of a girls’ team, she quickly excelled in the sport. Musonda became captain of the national team in 2018, with a goal to lead them to their maiden World Cup tournament.

Off the field, Musonda is involved in development work, particularly focusing on African girls and women. She plans to promote women’s cricket by opening an all-sports academy for females post-retirement. Additionally, she plays basketball and is a devout Christian.
