Aayushi Shukla’s four-wicket haul restricts Sri Lanka under the three-figure mark

Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals after skipper Niki Prasad won the toss and opted to field first. The 22-run 5th wicket partnership between skipper Manudi Nanayakkara and wicket-keeper batter Sumudu Nisansala, followed by another crucial 21-run partnership for the 6th wicket between Rashmika Sewwandi and skipper Manudi Nanayakkara were some decent partnerships throughout the innings for the Sri Lankans that couldn’t carry on for them to post a competitive total on the board.

As a result, they were restricted to 98/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Manudi Nanayakkara (33 off 30 balls), and wicketkeeper Sumudu Nisansala (21 off 31 balls) contributed 55% of the team’s total. The innings extras (11) played the 12th batter alongside the duo to enter into the double digits for Sri Lanka. Aayushi Shukla (4-0-10-4), Shabnam Shakil (3-0-8-1), Gongadi Trisha (3-0-8-0), and Parunika Sisodia (4-0-27-2) were the standout performers with the ball for India.

G Trisha, G Kamalini, and M Vinod help India register back-to-back wins

Sri Lanka fought back with a couple of quick wickets, removing Ishawari Awasare, and Sanika Chalke inside the first couple of overs in the run chase. Gongadi Trisha joined opening batter G Kamalini (28 off 26 balls) at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 63-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Chamodi Praboda picked up the wicket of Gongadi Trisha (32 off 24 balls) to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side.

After being in a very strong position in the chase, India suffered a mini collapse, losing their next three wickets for just 20 runs. However, the duo of Mithila Vinod (17* off 12 balls) and Aayushi Shukla took their side over the line with four wickets in hand and 31 balls to spare. Chamodi Praboda (4-0-16-3), and Shashini Gimhani (4-1-18-2) were the stand-out performers with the ball for Sri Lanka.

Aayushi Shukla was awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning spell of 4-0-10-4 with the ball, playing a crucial role in helping India seal back-to-back victories.
