The Indian women’s team has been fined 10% of its match fee for maintaining a slow over rate during the second ODI against Australia at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
In the 2nd ODI, of the recently concluded 3-match series, at the Allan Border, hosts Australia put up a total of 371 batting first and later India were bowled out for 249, with Australia registering a win by 122 runs to steal the series in their favor.
According to the ICC release, match referee David Gilbert imposed sanctions after Harmanpreet Kaur’s side was ruled out to be two over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
“India were found guilty in accordance with 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for players & players support personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined five percent off for every over if their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” the ICC release said.
The given charges were leveled by on-field umpires Claire Polosak and Donovan Koch, third umpire Jacquline Williams, and fourth umpire David Taylor.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur admitted the guilt and further, there was no need for a formal hearing.
In the third ODI, at Perth, batting first Australia posted a score of 298 and dismissed India for 215, resulting in an 83-run victory, and a dominant 3-0 whitewash.
