Georgia Voll, 21, was named in the thirteen-player squad for the series as a replacement for injured Alyssa Healy, who continues to recover from a knee injury.

Voll had an impressive maiden stint with the Sydney Thunder, aggregating 330 runs in 12 matches, striking at 144, in the recently concluded 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The right-handed batter made a statement at the top of the order as she smashed two scores in the 90s.

It was also her phenomenal domestic season that led to her international debut. In the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), Australia’s domestic 50-over competition, representing Queensland, Voll scored 459 runs in 13 matches averaging 41 which included two fifties & two hundreds. Now, in her maiden international outing, the 21-year-old has an opportunity to leave a strong impression.

On the other hand, Titas Sadhu has marked a significant milestone in her young cricketing career as she makes her ODI debut in the first ODI against Australia. The young pacer, known for her fiery pace, has already represented the national side in T20Is, having played 9 matches in the shortest format of the game so far. But today marks her first challenge in the 50-over format representing the national side.

It was in September 2023 that she made her T20I debut before she went on to gain valuable experience in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) with the Delhi Capitals playing four games. She had first burst onto the international scene during the inaugural Under-19 Women’s World Cup, in 2023, producing match-winning spells and since has only continued to impress.

The three-match ODI series is part of the ICC ODI championship where Australia sits at the top of the table, whereas India is ranked third with 12 wins so far. This is Australia’s first ODI series since their tour to Bangladesh earlier this year in March, while India is coming fresh off a 2-1 ODI series win over New Zealand.
