Opting to bat first, the Perth Scorchers didn’t have a promising start, losing two early wickets. However, Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine’s partnership got the innings back on track. Beth, who had two single-digit scores in her last three innings, finally found her form, bringing up her second fifty of the season towards the halfway mark, this off 37 balls.
Sophie and Beth were involved in a record 112-run stand for the third wicket, helping the Perth Scorchers reach 170. It was their tenth hundred-run stand in the competition, the most by any pair in WBBL history.
Throughout her innings, Beth smashed eleven boundaries, striking at 151.56. She was just three runs shy of her fourth WBBL hundred before being trapped in front of the stumps by Shabnim Ismail in the final over, missing out on her first century of the ongoing edition.
