Abbey Freeborn: A Proven Run-Scorer and Wicketkeeper

Abbey Freeborn, a dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, has proven herself as one of the leading run-scorers for Central Sparks, amassing an impressive 1,463 runs since her arrival in 2022. Her standout performance came last month when she played a pivotal role in securing The Hundred title with London Spirit. Freeborn’s career-best innings of 107 not out against The Sunrisers in September 2023 is a testament to her batting prowess and ability to perform under pressure. Expressing her excitement about joining the Bears, Freeborn stated, “It’s the beginning of a big era for women’s cricket, and I’m excited to be part of Bears Women for at least the next two years.” She also highlighted the vibrant atmosphere at Edgbaston, indicating that it is an exciting time for women’s cricket.

Bethan Ellis: An All-Rounder with Versatility and Athleticism

Bethan Ellis, a talented all-rounder and medium-pace bowler, has also made her mark at Central Sparks. She was joint-leading wicket-taker in the T20 Charlotte Edwards Cup this summer with nine wickets and has accumulated 334 runs alongside 24 wickets since joining the club. Her best bowling figures of 4/29 against Southern Vipers further showcase her capabilities as a key player. Ellis expressed her enthusiasm about representing her home club: “It’s an exciting time for the women’s game and for the team. I want to be part of the Club’s future and contribute to the growth of the team in the new set-up.” Her commitment to her roots is evident as she has been playing for Warwickshire since she was 12 years old.
