Rachel Andrew holds the esteemed title of being the first captain of the Vanuatu T20 International women’s team. Renowned for her prowess as a right-hand batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler, she has been a key figure in Vanuatu cricket since 2014, emerging as their premier all-rounder.
Following Vanuatu’s official recognition for T20 Internationals in 2018, Rachel took the leadership role in July 2019, leading the team through numerous regional encounters against opponents such as Papua New Guinea, Japan, Samoa, and Fiji. Since her debut against Papua New Guinea in Port Vila on May 6, 2019, she has showcased remarkable performances. Her unbeaten 105 against the Cook Islands in Auckland on 19 Jan 2024 stands as her highest score till date. Beyond her cricketing endeavors, Rachel actively engages in the Women’s Island Cricket Programme, initiated in 2012 by the Vanuatu Cricket Association. This initiative aims to tackle health and social issues affecting women, utilizing cricket as a catalyst for positive change within the community.
