The talented Sri Lankan cricketer has now been signed by the Trinbago Knight Riders as the replacement player for Meg Lanning for the 3rd edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), commencing from 22nd of August 2024. This marks her first-ever franchise team signing, and she is poised to make a mark on this new chapter of her career.
Samarawickrama’s remarkable form has been a highlight of recent cricketing events. Her recent performance in the ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup was nothing short of spectacular. In a historic final, Sri Lanka clinched their maiden ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup title by defeating the three-time champions India. Harshitha played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s victory, scoring 69 runs off 51 balls. Her innings was crucial, especially after the departure of Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu.
