Groupings:

The draw has revealed the groupings for the eagerly awaited competition. The defending champions, India, have been placed in Group A alongside hosts Malaysia, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka, in what promises to be an engaging set of matches.

Group B features England, who will be looking to make a strong comeback after their runners-up finish in the inaugural edition last year. They will face off against neighboring Ireland, Pakistan, and the United States of America (USA). This group is expected to be highly competitive, with each team bringing its unique strengths.

In Group C, South Africa, the hosts of the previous tournament, are joined by New Zealand, new entrant Samoa, and the winner from the Africa qualifier. This group is notable for its diverse mix of established teams and debutantes.

Group D, with cricketing powerhouse Australia drawn alongside Bangladesh, the winner from Asia qualifier, and Scotland. This group will be a test of skill and strategy as these teams compete for a place in the Super Six stage.

Regional Qualifier:

Europe Qualifier –

Scotland’s Under-19 Women’s cricket team secured their place in the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating the Netherlands by six wickets in Aberdeen. Kirsty McColl was key, taking three wickets to limit the Dutch to 89-8. Scotland chased the target of 90 in just 14 overs, with key contributions from Pippa Sproul (29) and Emma Walsingham (25). This win ensures Scotland’s qualification for consecutive ICC U19 Women’s World Cups, with the next tournament scheduled in Malaysia and Thailand in January 2025.

East Asia Pacific Qualifier –

Samoa’s Under-19 Women’s cricket team secured a historic qualification for the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup by winning the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Indonesia. They topped the round-robin competition, finishing first after a decisive four-wicket victory over Fiji on the final day. Despite entering as underdogs, Samoa delivered strong performances throughout, including key wins over Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. This marks the first time a Samoan team has qualified for a World Cup in cricket across any format or age level.

Africa Qualifier –

The fixtures for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division Two have been announced. Starting on August 21st and running through August 27th, this tournament will feature two groups of exciting teams.
