Denmark crowned as the champions of the 3rd edition of the Nordic Women’s T20 Cup

The Nordic Women’s T20 Cup is a multi-nation tournament, which was initially played as a tri-series. The inaugural edition of the tournament was played in the year 2022. A total of three teams, namely, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark participated in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

However, it was gradually expanded to a five-team tournament. The recently concluded, was the 3rd edition of the tournament. A total of five teams, namely Denmark, Guernsey, Norway, Estonia, and Finland. Guernsey replaced the two-time champions Sweden in the 2024 edition of the tournament hosted by Norway. The tournament commenced on 10th August 2024 and concluded on 11th August 2024.

Finland’s journey in the tournament

Finland led by skipper Traijila Mulepati had a horrible campaign in the tournament as they lost all their four matches of the season. As a result, they finished at the bottom of the table. Divija Unhale was the leading run-scorer for her side with 56 runs to her name in four innings. Haiyen Nguyen was a leading wicket-taker for their side with a couple of wickets to her name.

Estonia’s journey in the tournament

Estonia Women led by skipper Maret Valner also had a forgettable campaign in the tournament as they just managed a solitary victory against Finland. As a result, they finished fourth on the points table with 2 points from four games.

Annemari Vessik was the 2nd highest wicket-taker of the tournament and the leading wicket-taker for her side with seven wickets to her name from four innings. Lisa Bowring was the leading run-scorer for their side with the bat. She scored an unbeaten 46 off 47 balls against Finland in the 9th match of the tournament.

Norway’s journey in the tournament

The hosts, Norway led by skipper Mirab Razwan had a decent campaign in the tournament as they managed to get four points from four games. As a result, they finished third on the points table. They had an impressive start to their campaign with back-to-back victories in the first couple of games. However, their campaign was derailed courtesy of a couple of defeats against Guernsey and the eventual champions Denmark in their last couple of games in the tournament.

Nayab Alizai was the leading run-scorer for her side and the fourth-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 73 runs in three innings to her name. Paridhi Agrawal was the leading wicket-taker for her side as well as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 10 wickets with the ball in four innings.

Guernsey’s journey in the tournament

Guernsey led by wicket-keeper batter and skipper Krista De La Mare had an impressive campaign as they finished 2nd on the points table with six points from four games, including three victories. Their only defeat in the campaign came against the eventual champions Denmark.

Annie Le Ray was the joint-highest wicket-taker for her side alongside Molly Robinson and the joint, 3rd-highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Sofie Ostergaard from Denmark with six wickets in four innings. Rosie Davis was the leading run-scorer for her side and the 2nd-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 103 runs in four innings.

The Denmark women’s team led by skipper Kathrine Brock-Nielson had a sensational, flawless campaign in the recently concluded 3rd edition of the Nordic Women’s T20 Cup. They were the only unbeaten side in the tournament and as a result, they finished at the top of the points table with eight points from four games in their campaign. Courtesy of their top-of-the-table finish, they were crowned as the champions of the recently concluded 3rd edition of the Nordic Women’s T20 Cup 2024, in Norway.

Tine Erichsen was the leading run-scorer of the tournament as well as for her side with 131 runs in four innings. Her tally of runs includes one half-century when she scored an unbeaten 58* (43 balls) against Finland. Sofie Ostergaard was the leading wicket-taker for her side and the joint 3rd-highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Guernsey’s duo of Annie Le Ray and Molly Robinson.
