In the ninth match of the Women’s Hundred, which got underway on July 23rd, Birmingham Phoenix took on the Trent Rockets. The Phoenix registered their maiden win of this edition by beating the Trent Rockets by three runs and this victory also ended their 12-match losing streak, as they successfully defended a total of 140. The Phoenix skipper’s all-around contribution helped her side register their maiden victory in the fourth edition of the Women’s Hundred. Initially, with the bat, she came in at number three and scored 66 runs off 34 balls at an explosive strike rate of 194.11, smashing six boundaries and four sixes throughout her innings. She was involved in a 102-run partnership with Sterre Kalis. Later, with the ball, she provided the first breakthrough for the Phoenix by dismissing the Rockets’ opener Grace Scrivens. She was awarded the Player of the Match for her contributions with both the bat and the ball.

Sterre Kalis 48* (Birmingham Phoenix):
Sterre Kalis’ innings helped the Phoenix to put up a total of 139. She was the second top scorer for the Phoenix, scoring an unbeaten 48. The right-handed opener smashed five boundaries throughout her innings and was involved in a 102-run stand for the second wicket with Ellyse Perry.

Nat Sciver-Brunt 59 (Trent Rockets):
The Rockets’ skipper scored a solid 59 off 37 balls, smashing back-to-back fifties early in her 2024 season. Though this fifty as well was in a losing cause, the English all-rounder’s innings kept the Trent Rockets in the chase of the total of 139. She smashed 10 boundaries throughout her innings and was the top scorer for the Rockets.

Heather Graham 1/12 & 30*(12) (Trent Rockets):
The Australian all-rounder almost led the hosts to a famous victory with her batting display. Initially, with the ball, she dismissed the Birmingham skipper Ellyse Perry for 66, finishing with figures of 1/15 (20 balls). But it was her display with the bat that stood out—smashing an unbeaten 30 off 12 balls. She came into bat when the Rockets had lost their third wicket, with 37 runs required off 19 balls. The right-handed batter scored 30 out of those 37 runs but unfortunately missed out on hitting a maximum off the last ball to power her team to a famous victory. She smashed four boundaries and one six in her innings.
