Lauren Bell shines with the ball as Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers settle for a hard-fought tie

Manchester Originals led by skipper Sophie Ecclestone held their nerve to seal an edge-of-the-seat thriller against Trent Rockets led by skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt by one run at Old Trafford, Manchester in the 7th match of the season.

Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams was all set to face the Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage at Headingley, Leeds in the 8th match of the tournament.

Southern Brave skipper Georgia Adams won the toss and opted to bat first. The Southern Brave openers Danielle Wyatt and Maia Bouchier got their side off to a good start with a 26-run opening stand. Linsey Smith cleaned up Maia Bouchier to provide the first breakthrough for the Northern Superchargers.

Southern Brave suffered a collapse as they lost their next four wickets for just 21 runs. Chloe Tryon joined Freya Kemp at the crease and the duo stitched a 12-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Annabel Sutherland cleaned up Naomi Dattani to provide the 6th breakthrough for her side.

Wicket-keeper batter Rhianna Southby joined Chloe Tryon at the crease and the duo stitched a crucial 20-run partnership for the 7th wicket. Chloe Tryon was found short of her crease to provide the 7th breakthrough for the Northern Superchargers. Southern Brave eventually ended up with a total of 100/8 in their quota of 100 deliveries.

Chloe Tryon (25 off 24 balls), Maia Bouchier (22 off 14 balls), wicket-keeper batter Rhianna Southby (16 off 19 balls), Feya Kemp (14 off 17 balls), and Lauren Bell (10 off 5 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Southern Brave. Linsey Smith (20-9-24-2), Annabel Sutherland (20-13-10-1), and Georgia Wareham (20-8-12-1) were the top performers with the ball for the Northern Superchargers.

Chasing a target of 101, the Northern Superchargers openers Marie Kelly and skipper Hollie Armitage got their side off to a steady start with a 17-run opening stand. Lauren Bell picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Hollie Armitage to provide the first breakthrough for Southern Brave. Marie Kelly soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for Southern Brave.

Annabel Sutherland joined Phoebe Litchfield at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 29-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side close to the 50-run mark. Lauren Bell came back and picked up the wicket of Annabel Sutherland to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side. Alice Davidson-Richards joined Phoebe Litchfield at the crease and the duo stitched a 14-run partnership for the 4th wicket.

Chloe Tryon picked up the wicket of Phoebe Litchfield to provide the 4th breakthrough for Southern Brave. Wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath joined Alice Davidson-Richards at the crease and the duo stitched a 16-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Wicket-keeper batter Bess Heath was found short of her crease to provide the 5th breakthrough for her side.

Northern Superchargers managed to level the scores (100/7) in their quota of 100 deliveries. Alice Davidson-Richards (27 off 22 balls), Phoebe Litchfield (24 off 28 balls), Kate Cross (10 off 11 balls), and Annabel Sutherland (10 off 15 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Northern Superchargers. Lauren Bell (20-13-11-4), Georgia Adams (20-4-19-1), and Chloe Tryon (15-7-11-1) were the top performers with the ball for Southern Brave.

Both sides eventually shared one point each as a result of a tie. Lauren Bell was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant match-defining spell (20-13-11-4) with the ball.
