India’s Manu Bhaker made history by winning a bronze medal in a 10m air pistol shooting event, becoming the first Indian female shooter to win an Olympic medal.
The 22-year-old achieved this milestone by finishing third in the women’s 10m air pistol final, thus marking India’s first Olympic medal in shooting after a 12-year wait.
The young shooter looked calm and composed shooting for a medal and while has clinched bronze, narrowly missed the silver by just 0.1 points & henceforth was eliminated, finishing with a shot of 221.7 to clinch a historic bronze medal. Following her achievement, former Indian cricket captains Mithali Raj and legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami poured in their wishes for Manu.
Mithali Raj praised Manu Bhaker for becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal and acknowledged the efforts of the Haryana girl in securing the bronze. Jhulan Goswami also applauded Bhaker for her historic bronze at the 2024 Olympics, recognizing her as an inspiration to young women.
Sneh Rana was another cricketer who appreciated Bhaker through an Instagram story. As India rejoiced, many female cricketers also celebrated Bhaker’s achievement, recognizing her as the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal since 2012.
