Bio:

Alana King, of Anglo-Indian descent, grew up in Melbourne after her parents emigrated from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Inspired by her brother, she pursued cricket after dabbling in various sports like Tennis, Softball, and Baseball.

King made her international debut in January 2022. In the domestic circuit, as of 2024, she plays for Western Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), having previously represented Victoria from the 2016/17 to 2019/20 seasons.

Across all three international formats, she has taken two four-wicket hauls. In T20 Internationals, King made her debut on January 20, 2022, against England in Adelaide. In her impressive T20I debut, she picked up one wicket. By 2024, she had scored over 25 runs and taken more than 20 wickets in T20Is.

Her Test debut came on January 27, 2022, against England during their tour of Australia in Canberra. In this match, she impressed by taking three wickets. By 2024, she had scored over 49 runs and taken more than three wickets in Tests.

In One Day Internationals, she debuted on February 3, 2022, also against England during their tour of Australia in Canberra. By 2024, she had scored over 135 runs and taken more than 39 wickets in ODIs.

In franchise cricket, King plays for Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and Trent Rockets in The Hundred as of 2024. On August 13, 2022, during a group stage match between Trent Rockets and Manchester Originals, she claimed a hat-trick, becoming the first woman to achieve this feat in The Hundred. Later that month, during a match between Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets, King delivered 10 consecutive dot balls, setting another record in The Hundred’s history.

Previously, she played for Melbourne Stars in the WBBL from 2015/16 to 2020/21 and for the Supernovas in the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2022.
