Alice Capsey is a talented batter and a right-arm off-break bowler who made her T20 International debut on 23 July 2022 against South Africa during their tour of England in Worcester. She then made her ODI debut on 18 September 2022 against India during their tour of England in Hove.
Capsey made her county debut in 2019 against Hampshire while playing for Surrey. She bowled a good spell, taking 3 wickets for 65 runs. In 2020, she continued playing for Surrey and won her first London Cup. In 2021, she was Surrey’s leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker in the Women’s T20 Cup, with 134 runs and 8 wickets. In the 2020 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, she played for South East Stars and was the leading run-scorer with 141 runs at an average of 28.20. She scored her maiden half-century in this tournament against Sunrisers, registering her highest score of 73 not out to lead her side to a comfortable 6-wicket victory. In 2021, while playing for Oval Invincibles, Capsey won The Hundred tournament. That same year, she was voted PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year for her exceptional performance. In 2022, she signed a professional contract with South East Stars. In December 2022, she was shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Capsey was named part of the England Academy for the 2019/20 intake. In December 2021, she was selected for England’s A squad tour to Australia. She also participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. In December 2022, Capsey was included in England’s squad to tour the West Indies but was ruled out of the rest of the tour after breaking her collarbone in the first ODI.
In domestic club cricket, Capsey established herself as a star player. She won The Hundred with the Oval team twice. She then signed with Melbourne Stars for the 2022-23 Women’s Big Bash League season. Capsey has gained extensive experience playing for teams such as Delhi Capitals Women, Melbourne Stars Women, Oval Invincibles Women, South East Stars, and Surrey Women.
