Fixtures announced for Sri Lanka’s home series against West Indies in June.
The Sri Lankan women’s team, captained by Chamari Athapaththu, will host West Indies for a white-ball series. The series will include a three-match ODI series at Galle International Cricket Stadium, Galle, followed by a three-match T20I series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota.
The bilateral series will get underway on June 15, 2024, and will conclude on July 28, 2024. West Indies have competed against Sri Lanka 23 times in T20Is, with West Indies winning 18 matches, Sri Lanka winning 4, and 1 match having no result. They have played 32 ODIs against each other, with West Indies winning 18 times and Sri Lanka winning 14 times.
West Indies last visited Sri Lanka in 2015 for five ODI and three T20I series which resulted in the West Indies winning the ODI series 4-1 and the T20I series 2-1. Their last bilateral series encounter dates back to 2017 when Sri Lanka toured the West Indies for three ODIs and as many T20Is that the West Indies clean swept.
The Sri Lanka women’s cricket team recently toured South Africa for a bilateral in April 2024. They won the three-match T20I series 2-1, making history by winning their first-ever T20I series against South Africa. The teams drew the ODI series 1-1.
Meanwhile, the West Indies toured Pakistan in April-May, where they whitewashed the three-match ODI series 3-0 and won the five-match T20I series 4-1.
