Overseas draft for Women’s Hundred 2024 Announced, Harmanpreet Kaur opts out of draft

The Southern Brave led by skipper Anya Shrubsole clinched their maiden title in the Women’s Hundred in the 3rd edition of the Women’s Hundred last year. They ended up as the runners-up in the first couple of editions in the Women’s Hundred. A player draft was introduced for the first time in the Women’s Hundred last year, in the 3rd edition of the tournament.

The teams could only retain four players from their current squad as per the player draft. A minimum of four players can be signed from the draft and the teams can use one right-to-match card to for a player to effectively retain that player for the next edition of the tournament. The upcoming 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred is all set to commence on 23rd July 2024 and will conclude on 18th August 2024. A total of 15 Indian players have registered for the draft, out of which 6 of them Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur, Richa Ghosh, and Shreyanka Patil have enrolled themselves under a specific price bracket.

A total of 41 Australian players, the Sri-Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu is the only Sri Lankan and Jahanara Alam is the only player from Bangladesh Jahanara Alam, Maryam Omar from Kuwait, Gunjan Shukla from Sweden, Yasmeen Khan, from Namibia, in the list. There are 10 players from West Indies, 5 players from Ireland, 8 players from Zimbabwe, 19 players from New Zealand, a couple of players from Papua New Guinea, 11 players from South Africa, 5 players from Pakistan, a couple of players from UAE, and a couple of players from Hong Kong are the other overseas players who have registered themselves in the draft for the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred.

The player draft will be held on 20th March at the Shard in London. Oval Invincibles will face off against Birmingham Phoenix to kickstart the 4th edition of the Women’s Hundred from 8:15 PM IST.
