The 41-year-old former Scotland skipper and all-rounder Kari Anderson who is also known as Kari Carswell made her international debut on 10th August 2001 in an ODI against England. She is finally back with Cricket Scotland as she is now appointed as the new head coach of the Scotland Under-19 Women’s cricket team. She will replace the former head coach Peter Ross in the role.

“I’m really excited to be back involved with Scotland. I’ve been a keen watcher, over a number of years now, and to be back here coaching is really exciting. I feel like I’ve gone away and learned lots, and I want to pass on as much as I can to the players and coaches involved.” former Scotland skipper Kari Anderson speaks about coming back into the Scotland set-up after being away from the country for three years and is keen to pass on her knowledge to the younger generation of the Scotland Women’s team.

The former head coach Peter Ross guided Scotland to a spot in the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. They lost all their three matches against UAE, South Africa, and India before ending their campaign on a winning note with a five-wicket victory over the USA. Former Scotland skipper Kari Anderson has represented Scotland for over 150 matches across formats. She announced her retirement from International cricket on 13th February 2017.

After she retired from International cricket, she spent five years working on coaching and development roles in New Zealand with Northern Districts as the Head Coach and the Female Pathways Manager at Spirit, she also worked as an Assistant Coach of the White Ferns development program and the Head Coach of the New Zealand Under-19 development squads.

In the 2nd innings of her career, a player turned into a coach for Scotland will be aiming to Qualify for the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup for the 2nd time in a row. “There’s obviously a huge carrot to qualify for the U19 World Cup. We’ve got a good lead into the qualifiers, so there’s plenty of opportunity to get across ideas of how we go about playing T20 cricket. It’s a busy summer with games and that will provide excellent practice for the squad, whilst we need to keep producing players for the senior squad too. I need to get to know everyone and see who can do what, but we’ve got the time on our hands.” Kari Anderson, former Scotland skipper speaks about the significance of qualifying in the Women’s Under-19 World Cup and setting a template for the way they would want to approach their game in the T20I format.

The Scotland Under-19 team will be hosting the Netherlands in the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in July.
