The tournament consists of more depth this time around with an increased number of games being played compared to the previous edition, aiding the players to acclimatize to the platform and have an expanded experience. The competition will be played out in Barbados and Trinidad and will encompass three teams, namely; Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Announcement of the teams will take place later this June, where the dynamics are such that nine senior Windies players, two emerging Windies players, and four overseas players are to be picked by each franchise. The emerging players will be of the age group of under 21 years and will be picked from a list provided by CWI. Consistent with this is the expansion of the WCPL 2023 to feature more matches and playing across venues in the region. This opportunity for our regional cricketers is invaluable. Additionally, there is no doubt that the spectacle of the tournament will inspire more young female cricketers to take up the sport. It is certainly an exciting time for all parties involved.”
