Himachal Pradesh and Vidarbha enter the Semi-Finals of Senior Women’s T20 League 2022-23

The Senior Women’s T20 League got underway on the 12th of October with its 14th edition with Railways as the defending champions. After 9 days and 126 games of action, the tournament has got its final four for the Semis that’ll be played on the 3rd of November and below is a report on the 3rd and 4th Quarter-Final games that were played later in the day, during the noon hours.

Quarter-Final 3: Senior Women’s T20 League 2022-23

Andra – 114/7 (20.0)
Himachal Pradesh – 118/3 (19.1)

Andra put in to bat first lost openers, N Anusha and V Sneha Deepthi early on with respective scores of 1(3) and 7(7) with 13 on board. The pair of C H Jhansi Lakshmi and S Hima Bindu stitched a brief partnership that came to a close with the wicket of Hima on 14(21) and soon Jhansi too followed being run out on 14(25) with 45 on board at the start of the 11th over. E Padmaja and V Pushpa Latha then carried on Andra’s innings with a 23-run stand that came to a close with the wicket of Padmaja on 19(17). Pushpa Latha when got going, gained crucial help from K Devika’s 13(12). In the penultimate over with 107 on board, Latha departed on 35(26). B Anusha’s 3*(5) and K Jyothi’s 2*(4) pushed Andra’s total to 114. Himachal Pradesh with the ball had, Harleen B Deol top the wickets chart with a couple of wickets and Anisha A Ansari, Prachi P Chauhan and Sushmita H Kumari bagged a wicket each.

Himachal Pradesh in reply had opener, Nikita S Chauhan start well, but couldn’t carry on as she departed early on a score of 13(11). Opener, Sushma B Verma then lost a partner more in no time as Harleen B Deol on 4(3) departed and a well-set Sushma then had good assistance from S M Singh. The latter struggled in the middle for her 11(25), but the 38-run stand had Sushma managing the show as the team also got to 71 on board at the end of the 12th over. Neena M Chaudhary joined Sushma who soon got to her fifty and the pair then closed the game out for the side finishing unbeaten on respective scores of 13(18) and 68(58) at the start of the final over. Andra in a losing cause, in the wickets column, had E Padmaja, K Jyothi and Saranya Gadwal with a wicket each to their name.

Result : Himachal Pradesh won by 7 wickets

Quarter-Final 4 : Senior Women’s T20 League 2022-23

Maharashtra – 112/5 (20.0)
Vidarbha – 113/3 (18.2)

Maharashtra put in to bat first had a poor start as the side lost openers, M R Magre on 10(21) and S S Shinde on 0(1) and P B Garkhede on 2(8) followed in the side being 3 down for 14 at the start of the 6th over. D P Vaidya and skipper, T S Hasabnis then partnered to put up a crucial stand, but wasn’t necessarily at the pace, the team would have wished. The 78-run stand between the two came to a close with the wicket of Vaidya on 25(33) and Hasabnis then was partnered by S A Lonkar and the pair finished unbeaten on respective scores of 49(48) and 12(10) in the team closing out on 112/5 at the end of their set of overs. Vidarbha with the ball had, K R Zanzad top the wickets table with a couple to her name and Arya P Gohane, Kanchan Nagwani and Reena Paul had a wicket each to their name.

Vidarbha in reply lost opener, S W Dharne early on the score of 4(6) and skipper, D D Kasat then partnered, opener, Prangini Chauhan for a crucial run-stand that helped Vidarbha push their total past 50. The 54-run stand between the two came to a close with the wicket of Prangini Chauhan on 24(31) and B S Fulmali then partnered skipper, Kasat in closing out the total. The 31-run stand between the two came to a close with the wicket of B S Fulmali on 18(19) with 90 on board. While Kasat got to her fifty, L M Inamdar with a quick fire 11*(6) finished the game for her side with the former remaining unbeaten on 53*(48) in the penultimate over. Maharashtra with the ball had each of P B Garkhede, U A Pawar and M R Magre bag a wicket.
