Baroda Women’s Team Receives INR 30 Lakhs Sponsorship for 2022-23 Season

The BCCI late in July announced the upcoming 2022-23 domestic season that gets underway on the 1st of October with the Women’s U-19 T20 trophy and the long domestic season that features U-16 and U-19 and senior teams will come to a close on the 18th of March 2023 with Women’s U-23 One-day Trophy.

The BCCI has organized a total of 9 tournaments for women, which see 5 senior, 3 U-19 tournaments and an under-16 tournament in the mix. For the upcoming domestic tournament in the 2022-23 season, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has received sponsorship from a global e-shipping company for the first time. The brand is set to feature on the women’s kit while representing Baroda in the upcoming domestic tournaments.

For the upcoming domestic season, the Baroda women’s team of all age groups have received sponsorship worth INR 30,00,000/- from the global e-shipping company ‘Galaxy Cargo Services’. It is a Mumbai-based company that offers modified solutions for comprehensive intermodal transportation and haulage services according to the need of customers’ supply chains.

Girish Nair, the vice-president of Galaxy Cargo Services said, “For us, the sponsorship is a passionate support for women’s cricket. We support cricket and are associated with the Baroda Cricket Association, to begin with.”

Radha Yadav, India’s senior team and a player for Baroda in domestic cricket quoted, “This is a big thing for women’s cricket as it will increase the responsibility. We need to play good cricket and also focus on winning more matches. This sponsorship will give a lot of motivation to the players as well as the aspiring girls.”

Another India senior team player and a Baroda domestic cricketer, Yastika Bhatia said, “We get inspiration from this sponsorship and it will help cricketers like us to perform well and play good cricket. This will also support the players who are financially weak and cannot pursue their passion for the game. Over the last several years we have gained media recognition and a specialty that inspires players to choose this as a career option.”

Mid-in-July, the BCA for the upcoming domestic season announced the signing of 38-year-old former Indian all-rounder, Rumeli Dhar as part of their coaching set-up. Rumeli has got 4 years of coaching experience under her belt and is a BCCI Level 2 certified coach.

BCA CEO, Shishir Hattangadi in a statement quoted, “BCA welcomes Ms Rumeli Dhar on board. Her vast international experience will add great value to Baroda Women’s Cricket. We wish her the very best for her upcoming innings with the BCA and look forward to taking this association further.”
