Women’s cricket is all set to mark its debut at the Commonwealth Games on the 29th of July in Birmingham, England. The tournament will see 12 league stage games followed by 4 knockout games with the medal games set to be played on the 7th of August. The tournament will be played in the Twenty20 format and will feature 8 nations divided into two groups with India, Australia, Pakistan and Barbados in group A and England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka in other, group B.

The team have had a few setbacks with the absence of senior players in Katey Martin and Amy Satterthwaite. Amelia Kerr tested positive for the team a few days back The team have a good mix of experience and youth and the team in their buildup with the series against England A has had a great start and will look to carry it.

Sophie Devine

Opener and skipper, Sophie Devine is vastly experienced in the T20I format and has been on a decent run in the recent past. Sophie Devine’s style of play is the most to the format and has scored 2592 runs and 98 wickets with the best figures of 4/22 in 102 matches.

Amelia Kerr

Spin all-rounder, Amelia Kerr has had a fine form over the past few years. With the ball in hand, Amelia has picked up 42 wickets in 41 innings with best figures of 3/16 and with the bat in hand she’s scored 234 runs in 24 innings.

Lea Tahuhu

Pacer, Lea Tahuhu keeps charging on with her pace and has bagged 53 wickets in 60 innings. Despite bowling in the crunch bowler Lea has an economical rate of just below 6 with best figures of 3/17.

Suzie Bates

Opener, Suzie Bates has had a fine start in England against the A team and her stat of nearly an average of 30 is very fitting explaining her role of playing an anchor where she defines her consistency. In 123 innings, Suzie has scored 3380 runs and leads the chart of highest runs in the T20I format.
