It’s just been a week and a half since the commencement of The Hundred and in this short time, it has done a lot of good for women’s cricket. We can see the improvement in the number of live spectators and audiences all around the world. People seem really interested in women’s matches and why won’t they be, the matches have turned out to be really interesting and some nail-biting.
Malala Yousafzai, who is a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, was invited by Sky Sports to the women’s match between Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Malala is best known for her work in women empowerment and education.
While talking to Sky Sports, she expressed her opinion that girls should never get discouraged to play a certain sport and always chase their dreams.
“Even today, when we see women cricket players playing in this stadium, they are sending a message to all girls out there that they can be in sports, they can be players, they can play any sport they want,” Malala said in an interview.
“I want to tell all girls, try it, and if you enjoy it, go for it. We are there to support you.” 👏

She also pointed out that a lot of women are being recognized at the international level and creating history, this motivates young girls to follow their dreams. She also encouraged young girls to try playing cricket and if they like it, to further pursue it.
“I think we are already seeing so many women role models who are changing history. I hope that we don’t limit women from going to any position that they dream of. I want to tell all girls, just try it, give it a try and if you enjoy it, go for it. We are there to support you,” she further added in the interview.
The match which Malala was a spectator of, was indeed one of the most thrilling. Jemimah Rodrigues’ splendid 60 runs and Laura Kimmince’s breath-taking 31 runs from 13 balls was a cherry on top of a full-of-excitement match.
